The mic I am using is only a cheap one anyway, from a rockband kit and then using the logitek drivers with Audacity
And as for the recording quality - on YT there's lots of musicians including rather popular ones who use absolute low-end hardware, even webcams, to record their performance. So that's not really an issue.
Edit: Oh yeah, also Newgrounds has a decent audio portal. You don't need a pic or video to upload your stuff there. It takes some luck to get many plays there, occasionally people will downrate stuff for no reason (which is a little disappointing at first) but there's always a chance that many people will hear your stuff there. When uploading audio there you agree to a creative commons license but that's a good thing in my experience. Thanks to this a decent amount of my tracks can be heard in YT videos.
