Yeah Minecraft still blows my mind. It's such a vast, vast game, and far from a kiddie game. SO MUCH TO TRY.

The Pocket Edition is pretty amazing now, too. New stone types, infinite worlds... but no redstone, alas.
Good to see there is still life in minecraft.
I and a few others ran servers for gog back in the day, unfortunately the norm is there is a spike at the start and then it just goes quiet.
I hope this doesnt happen though.

KasperHviid: Thanks! By the way, here's a skin I made:
Rustic chic, fabulous! Have you seen the new options for skins? I've attached the new 1.8 template/ guide.

- Added Granite, Andesite, and Diorite stone blocks, with smooth versions
- Added Slime Block
- Added Iron Trapdoor
- Added Prismarine and Sea Lantern blocks
- Added the Ocean Monument
- Added Red Sandstone
- Added Banners
- Added Armor Stands
- Added Coarse Dirt (dirt where grass won’t grow)
- Added Guardian mobs, with item drops
- Added Endermite mob
- Added Rabbits, with item drops
- Added Mutton and Cooked Mutton
- Villagers will harvest crops and plant new ones
- Mossy Cobblestone and Mossy Stone Bricks are now craftable
- Chiseled Stone Bricks are now craftable
- Doors and fences now come in all wood type variants
- Sponge block has regained its water-absorbing ability and becomes wet

evilnancyreagan: I have a dedicated Minecraft server
I don't have much multiplayer experience in minecraft - can you tell me how to log on? (and thanks for the template!)

Notch actually rescinded the kibosh he put on development for the Oculus Rift, while he didn't say he was actively developing for it, he did say that any of the other Mojang devs are free to do so. So, the possibility for official support has returned. if not entirely inevitable.

It'd be my pleasure :)

- Follow this short guide I wrote to get the appropriate version downloaded and installed.
- At the main title screen select 'Multiplayer'
- Click 'Add Server'
- In the 'Server Name' box enter "GOG + Minecraft" (or whatever you'd like, it's solely for your personal benefit)
- In the 'Server Address' box, enter the IP I sent you in a PM
- Click 'Done'
- Select the server you just added and click 'Join Server'
- Have Fun!

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask in this thread or a PM. :)

I saw that and was happy he is no longer being a sook

I'm also happy Mojang has claimed Bukkit back and has someone working on it. Hopefully they will eventually incorporate it into Minecraft

They never really lost it, in fact the whole reason Mojang took in Dinnerbone & Co was to re-write Minecraft to have a proper plug-in API i.e. Workbench. The last few patches have been incremental steps to that goal with 1.8 introducing the most significant changes to the core game. I wouldn't be surprised if they announce the API along with the release of 1.8 or shortly after.

So in short, you're not inviting tinyE. Right? ... Or me for that matter. :-)

Let me ask you this; on a scale of 1 to true-belieber, how would you rate the intensity of your Beiberfever?

if it ranks less than 4, you're an eligible candidate.
I see

not everyone is a fan

Oh I knew they always had the rights to it, I just meant I'm happy it's back in Mojang's "hands" so to speak so it does get worked on consistently

I didn't know about the incremental steps though. That's excellent news and the sooner the API is released the better

Do you know if 1.8 is still coming September 2?
