You know what I don't like about youtube? The stupid random arguments in the comments. Thankfully that sort of thing doesnt happen too often on these forums - one of the great things about the gog community!

Unfortunately one of the recent threads http://www.gog.com/forum/general/whats_your_favorite_thing_about_history is suffering as we speak from youtubeification - a stupid argument (my dad is stronger than your dad) about war crimes. I propose an experiment : Everyone hijack the thread and purify it, i.e. flood it with pictures of puppies or something and let everyone thus know : we will not tolerate that kind of internet banality on these forums. We are all friends with a common pasdion : Retro gaming !

Lets see what happens :P

1 - PC Elitism
2 - Screwing over developers and getting games as cheap as possible (free is best, no questions asked)
3 - Belittling everyone who do not agree with us

It is many years since the main focus here was retro gaming.

It ain't elitism if we're the best!

Anyway, getting games as cheap as possible scores them amazing cash mountains because of the increased number of people that buy into that. And even if it didn't, we'd be screwing the publishers more than the developers. Even if at all the developers. Devs have been already paid.

And getting games for free is in most cases is piracy, so if we we're all evil dicks, that's where we'd be. Deep inside the pirate bay.

Indie games usually also have much lower production values and much less credibility, so not only is their price already going to be pretty smal, we also need some kind of incentive to bother with those games at all.

Not every indie is Braid, Terraria or Super Meat Boy.

EDIT: It should be noted that not everyone has the cash to try out new indies or games at full price willy nilly. In some countries because of exchange rates and shitty salaries one full priced game ends up a bit over the top for the entertainment it might give you.

So thought their price is smaller, and no distributor is paying them - it is then still fine to "screw them over", especially considering that not all indies manages the same sales figures as Braid, Terraria or Super Meat Boy. Got it. Thanks.
