nmillar: Yeah, that got kind of out of hand; both of us were convinced the other was lying. Will keep out of future games!
Yeah you're right... Hey I've been on the winning side of both games I've been in. I must be a lucky charm.

eyeball226: I should have investigated ViolatorX a day earlier... I got nothing but other people's suspicion from Andy.
As some people said in the observer chat, what was with me only getting Bulletproof from investigating him? Surely SK is the role?

Shame he didnt get to use it :D
Who's doing #6? I'd like to sign up now. =D

Vitek: As was said in Observation thread, betting among players (or mod and player or anything) should be forbidden from now on. It doesn't belong into the game.

eyeball226: Pfft, it was bluff calling mostly. Besides, I bought him Ultima so it's as if there was never any bet... oooooooh.
Except it influences, or might influence, how you/nmillar are perceived by the other players.

GhostQlyph is currently the next up, after both Rob and Ublivis have been bumped down. Her setup is just now undergoing a review phase. (Review phase should already have been well underway, but yours truly has caused some delay on the matter, for which I appologize.)

Well, anything we say and do influences that. I agree with you that betting has no place in the game though.

Well, I have the admin thread favourited so as long as I check that I shouldn't miss any signup threads, right?

Nice game and win, and yeah, in N4 I had eyeball pinned as Mafia Jailer because that really was the only possible outcome based on standard roles..

Damnation, I think you probably really had to tell players things like that alternate night kill mechanic that are thrown in, because that really came out of left field and was so random no one would ever have any way of figuring it out, and it drastically messed with the night game and logic thereafter for both town and mafia heh.

Like, it's as random as saying everyone's NK and night actions and investigations are secretly performed on the next player down the list instead, but never telling anyone that, the game being so small wouldn't last long enough for anyone to figure that out.

It seemed rather town-biased.. where was the Mafia protection from the game ending after 2 days, which could have happened a mafia lynch first day (nearly happened), via crosskills (very nearly happened), and a mafia lynch on D2 again? There wasn't, but it happens, it's part of Mafia if the other side manages to get a perfect win.. random bulletproofs for everyone on even nights seems way unbalanced in favour of town, especially town power roles.

But don't let that take anything (else) away - nice job on the flavour and the modding and good job to the players involved. :)

What can I say? I have always been a bit of a bastard :p
They should have NKed the mod! :)

I don't see a rule stating they can't :D

What... actually happens if the mod is NK'd? Does the game end? Does it carry on without a mod (not sure how that works)?
I think usually in games where the mod is also a player, it's usually tied to some player's win condition or is some sort of role that is detrimental to town or both sides (see the game Zchinque linked on MtG Salvation, or the Mind Screw games on MafiaScum) or something, though sometimes it just seems that way but is actually helpful. Usually one of the more advanced bastardized games though where everyone knows to expect the unexpected and wacky.. right up Damnation's alley really. :p

In those games the mod is usually just a hidden in plain sight kind of player that doesn't usually post or do anything else (like he wouldn't actively try to lynch the mafia or whatever, but is more there for flavour or as a roadblock to remove at some point).

Meant it mostly as a joke in this case of course though! But if the mod existed as a player and he got lynched or NKed, the game would continue as always, just that his player aspect is removed from the game.

Would the mod be playing with an alt then?

eyeball226: Would the mod be playing with an alt then?
From the game where the mod was part of the game that I checked - no, he didn't. I haven't investigated the aspect that much, but it's something I might be interested in running. Got a few other ideas I need to get rid off first, though :D
In the case where the mod is a player? Usually not I think. And he wouldn't be listed on the player list if he was, nor make any posts either (usually). So when they lynched him the game would just continue normally but without that aspect in play any more.

Like for example, if Damnation were a player in this game, his role PM as the mod could look like this (taken from the sample PM, but obviously he won't show this in the opening post):

“Dear Damnation

You are the Vacuum Cleaner (Third Party Lightning Rod)

So the living family left, meaning there won’t be decaying skin flakes to create dust buddies for a month. Sounds incredibly boring. Nothing to do at all. Good thing you at least got some sentience when they left, then you can talk with the other household appliances. You managed to offend everyone though, calling them flaky and dirty and making a lot of noise in general. You're pretty sure everyone has it out for you now.

Abilities:
- Lightning Rod: All actions taken in the game will be redirected to you as long as you are alive.
- Game Mod: You may only post in the thread with regards to doing votecounts and other game mechanics. You may not participate in any game discussion nor cast a vote. This ability persists past death.

Win Condition:
You win if all other factions are dead."

---
And that would give like N1 immunity to everyone because he'd get blown up night 1, but he'd still continue modding etc, and he wouldn't post on the first night either.

Edit: Or actually, he wouldn't, until he was lynched or the jailer was lynched, because he'd get protection from Popinjay too, unless there was something else in place to prevent that.
