DarkoD13: Have you ever played as scum?
Not in the forum based version of the game.
avatar
trentonlf: Because he was considered town by most
avatar
dedoporno: Really? Was I the only one still not convinced? Damn, I need to pick up my game then.
I see nothing to support trentonlf's statement. I just checked and the only two people to mention they were considering flub as town were DarkoD13 (#343) and... adaliabooks (#276). Hardly what I would call "most"...
avatar
mrkgnao: From my experience mods are the type of people who, when asked "Can you confirm that 2 + 2 =4", would answer "No, I can't. ;) ", followed two minutes later with "Well, actually, I suppose I COULD confirm or deny it, but I WON'T. ;)". They are not the type of people to send out random flavour PM's.
I think your experience with moderators may be biased because I ran one of the games :P. Also, everyone knows that "2 + 2 = 5" for large values of 2...

On topic:
I was about to post that we should cease talking about night actions or ship models and start talking about things that are readily observaable, such as the wagon on adaliabooks or flubbucket's posts. DarkoD13 and others beat me to it.

I need to reread Day 1 and see if there is anything odd about how the wagon on adaliabooks formed. I had been putting it off rereading the thread again until I knew the fallout of Night 1, since I am all about economy of effort (i.e. laziness).

As for flubucket, the main reasons scum ever kills someone, in my experience, are:

1) Leave town without much to go on. In support of this, he was easily the player I wrote the least about in my notes while preparing my reads list for Day 1. Other that basic gut feelings about his posting style/wording, this is all I made note of:

"flubbucket
248 – He makes a list, but it is regarding the discussion about his avatars. He also FOS's DarkoD13 and me for lurking, easy targets. (scummy)
375 – reads post, with good analysis. Not much hedging. (pro-town)"

2) They suspected him of a power role. I'll admit that I thought he might be. I didn't know what alignment he was, but I did feel he wasn't as playful this time around, and a bit more pointed with his questions and analysis as the Day progressed.

3) They sought to misdirect and confuse. Scum may have targeted him with the intent to cast suspicious away from themselves and on to others. If this was their intent, I am not sure why they would have targeted flubbucket over some other player. I will double-check during my re-read, but I am inclined to dismiss this one at first blush.

Thank goodness. I was going to organize a search party.

You forget Ixam's unwillingness to reveal the roles of dead townies.
avatar
mrkgnao: You can always trust cats to save the day.
avatar
adaliabooks: Can you tell that to my cats? I certainly wouldn't trust them to do anything (never mind save the day).

As a quick Google of Olipsi and Nisk turns up only this thread I'm assuming the setting is from the mind of our glorious moderator?
avatar
flubbucket: +1 skills to Telika for reading comprehension!

Olipsi appear to be "infiltrators" and Nisk appear to be "infiltrated" and Iniurfas appear to be dogfighting spaceships.

I don't think we have three groups.

I'm starting to lose feeling in my tongue.
avatar
adaliabooks: Yeah, that sounds about right. The flavour certainly suggests a simple town v mafia set up.

I won't ask why you're losing feeling in your tongue. I hope it's just the alcohol.
avatar
Vitek: I will quietly sit over there and pretend that I know what is this about and why people talk about it.
avatar
adaliabooks: I'm with you.

Something to do with vanilla. I prefer mine in ice cream form.
avatar
mrkgnao: If you're referring to yogsloth and me, we're talking about flub's new avatar, which when zoomed in reads "Pure Vanilla Extract", which of course could be either Tahiti vanilla (as in T = Town) or Madagascar vanilla (as in M = Mafia).
avatar
adaliabooks: Ah, I thought it was a bag of flour.

He probably just wanted it for the alcohol content ;)
avatar
flubbucket: Yes Darkie sfor the win wnd I'm baiesly able to soey inm y schair.
avatar
adaliabooks: Has anyone got a drunk speech translator? Cause I have no idea.

flubbucket: Here you go

adaliabooks: HGhanBGRZ ZRMNNMb

Hmmm... I'm not sure it works :P
avatar
Krypsyn: KOTOR was pretty good, except that some of the Dark Side dialogue was a little on the Chaotic Stupid side of evil. KOTOR2 was better about that though; it had Kriea.

I'll just go back to playing Marriage Simulator 2 ... I mean Crusader Kings 2 ...
avatar
adaliabooks: Me too!
Crusader Kings is awesome. I'm fairly sure I'm going to be annihilated soon in my current game though, the Holy Roman Empire pretty much controls most of Europe and is thwarting all my plans for expansion.
avatar
flubbucket: I've had it for a long time. I just haven't focused any real time on it. I'm one of those who will have three of four games going at a time.
avatar
adaliabooks: I'm not usually, but thanks to free games, sales and our overly generous community I've built up quite a backlog. So I decided to at least dip my toe into a few and see which ones I really want to spend more time with first.

I'm almost finished Steamworld Dig, which is quite a fun little game.

I'll have to give the Witcher another go, it didn't impress me on first play, but I didn't really give it much time.
avatar
flubbucket: I'll admit The Witcher took some time for me as well. The combat was really awkward and seemed overly dynamic for what seemed to be an RPG. I slogged through and got the hang of it and it turned out to be very good. The theme and the characters and the atmosphere all were engrossing. I like games where my decisions actually have consequences....similar to the Fallout series.

Also I'm town.
avatar
adaliabooks: I know I didn't really give the Witcher much of a chance. I don't think I even spent an hour with it. It just didn't grip me at the time. But I will try it again sometime.

And I'm also town (obviously)
avatar
Vitek: Also, I am spaceship.
avatar
adaliabooks: I'm a train. Chu chu!
Hm?
GOG is only letting me post so much in one post so there will be a few of these! These are all of books posts.

avatar
mrkgnao: On the other hand, what are the chances of her being town three games in a row?
avatar
adaliabooks: Well... assuming the normal ratio of scum the we probably have 3 or 4 scum. So say... rounded to about 5 in 7?

Unfortunately statistics don't care about previous results, so being town the last two games shouldn't really have an effect (assuming roles are assigned randomly?)
avatar
flubbucket: The what with the who now??
avatar
adaliabooks: I'd just go with it, I have no idea what is going on. Something to do with everyone's avatars.

<- Look! Mine's a badly made sprite representation of me. What does that tell everyone about me?
avatar
HijacK: I.....I....I thought you're a girl....chick.....
Something is wrong with you, your avatar and especially your title.... I don't trust you!
avatar
adaliabooks: Lol. Nope, I'm a guy. (of the male persuasion if that is unclear)

I don't see what is wrong with my title... It's a part of a quote (admittedly one that's unlikely to be recognisable without the end, which I couldn't fit. And probably not too recognisable even with the end)
avatar
adaliabooks: Well if we're moving out of RVS.

adaliabooks: *sigh*

Clearly that was supposed to be:

yogsloth: ...
avatar
adaliabooks: I'm all for getting the ball rolling and getting on with things, but we don't really have much to get on with at the moment.

The only 'clue' that's really come out is flubs possible vanilla claim. But assuming we take that at face value (which doesn't seem like the best idea) is he vanilla town or vanilla scum?

We rushed into things a little last game and lynched HijacK, and look where that got us: three townies dead after night one. Now I don't know whether we'll have anything like lovers in this game, but we really don't want to make that mistake again and I for one want a bit more information before we just start lynching people.
avatar
Vitek: I sense false-claim. :-)
avatar
adaliabooks: Pfft, shows what you know, I'm clearly a train. Thomas the Tank Engine to be exact.

I can see where you are coming from with HijacK's behaviour, trent's different play style was one of the big clues I had last game that he was scum, but I'm not sure that the same can be said of HijacK, he's just a bit too unpredictable.
avatar
Robbeasy: Morning all! (well its morning where I am)...

hmmm, I love it when people start to state 'well we're moving out of RVS then' , as if that makes it bound to happen...

A lot of fluff to go through, but thats always the case first day.

So - onwards. Whats got me so far is that everyone is Still playing cards close to their chests - Flubb for example in last post 'there are things to look for, just pay close attention'

IF you are town you should be highlighting these things and bringing them out in the open IMMEDIATELY, not hinting mysteriously at them!! We only have one weapon as Town - that is our vote. It applies pressure and induces slips from Scum. Just wittering on about stuff and not actually using that vote just makes it an easy ride for the scum.

So - has ANYONE got anything tickling their scumdar at the moment?? I have noticed one thing.

@Adaliabooks - Vitek said 'I am Spaceship'. What made you reply 'I am Train'? Just a flippant remark? Can you see why I'm doing this?

Unvote yogsloth

vote Adaliabooks
avatar
adaliabooks: Purely flippant. While I suppose it's not entirely impossible there is some kind of space train in the setting I wouldn't really expect it. I just wanted to say "Chu Chu!"...

I do agree about sharing info, if anyone finds anything suspicious it's worth closer examination by the group as a whole. Unfortunately I've got nothing to share as of yet.
avatar
adaliabooks: I'm drawing a little bit of a blank at the moment.

The only two players who are standing out to me are yogsloth and Vitek. The first for his post about getting the game going, it's hard to know whether it's scum fishing for info or a slip by an inexperienced townie...

Vitek just seems to be a little... defensive? Nothing major, just seems to stand out more than anyone else to me at the moment.

Everyone's being just a little too cautious to really judge who's who at the moment...
OK, well, don't do that.
Reread adaliabooks' posts. Can't say I found much. Not unexpectedly, his posts were mostly opportunistic, exploiting comments made by others.

- Players for which his comments were mostly negative (i.e. tend to scum): CSPVG, HijacK, Krypsyn, Vitek, yogsloth
[primarily yogsloth]

- Players for which his comments were mostly positive (i.e. tend to town): Flubbucket, mrkgnao, Sage103082, trentonlf
[not many such posts]

- Players for which he made no judgement call: DarkoD13, dedoporno, Robbeasy
OK ill stop posting books posts. Figured I would put everything together so it would be easy to look over it, for ever one.

Post #168 and post #208. Both very light negative.

We're obviously reading those differently. He said CSPVG is lurky, but he mentioned several times that that seems to be his playstyle.
I'm also trying to find a post where he tried to throw some dirt on flub.

Anyway, it would probably be better if your post was a bit more analytical in that aspect, I don't find the "mostly" generalization very helpful.
I'd actually urge everyone to double and triple-check for accuracy everything being posted at the moment, including my bandwagon post.

I don't see the negativity toward CSPVG in posts 168 and 208, I do see the positive in post 276. Where are you seeing the negative at?
