I... really hate this forum software. With the forum in it's current state I don't think I can support this edit-modkill policy, but in this case I accept my fate as it would be unfair on Joe and Flub if I don't also get modkilled.

Let me begin by saying that I am sorry for how this game has turned out.

I knew that my hardline stance on "edited" posts was a bit of a risk, but under no circumstances did I foresee it backfiring this spectacularly. It was a decision I made prior to the game starting, and it was clearly the wrong one.

On one hand, I don't want to disrupt the game more than strictly needed (harr harr). In this case, I saw SPF's post pre-"edit". so I know there was nothing underhanded, as if how his post at the current time wasn't a good enough indication already. I also believe, although on this I can not be 100% certain, that this "edit" was through no fault on SPF's side - it just doesn't make any sense (yes, I believe a player posting twice in succession within 10 minutes is at fault, we know the quirks of the forum software well enough, sub-par though it may be).

And then, of course, there's the other hand. No matter how we look at it, SPF's post has been "edited". In post #173 I categorically stated that any post showing as edited would lead to a modkill of the player in question, and as you're all aware I've already acted on this twice. Had SPF's post come without there having been any other modkills, I believe I would have felt I had more room to maneuver in. But as it stands, I would feel that I'm acting very unfairly towards Joe and Flub if they got modkilled, while SPF is allowed to live. I believe that everyone should be treated equally and consistently, according to the rules.

It feels like I've painted myself into a corner here.

So, in the end, I want to ask for input from you, the players. Dead players and spectators are also welcome to share their opinions.

Right now, I feel pretty dejected. I honestly don't know what I should do. It feels like a poisoned chalice, where no matter what decision I land on it's the wrong one. One option that has crossed my mind, and I'm beginning to think it might be the best one, is to abandon the game, and start a new one. It wouldn't be an optimal solution, obviously, but it would let us put this game behind it before it becomes even more farcical, and let us take our lesson (okay, that might apply only to myself) and move on.

As said, I want your input. Do you want the game to continue, or would you rather turn the page and move on to greener pastures? Take note that the question makes no presumption about whether or not the game, if it continues, would still have SPF as a living player. (Which is another question you're more than welcome to weigh in on.)

Please keep all discussion about this to PMs with me. I do not want this discussed in this thread, as long as the game is in progress.

Once the game ends, whether that will be pretty soon or a bit later down the line, I'll happily take that discussion, as well as the public flogging that is likely to come with it.

Again, I'm sincerely sorry for how this has turned out.

@Vitek: I'm going to have to re-read to get out of the bizarre mindset I put myself into, buuuut my current thoughts are that my wagon probably does have some interesting info even though my behaviour was completely engineered. The scum would know (as they would with every lynch obviously) that I wasn't scum. Given how blatantly scummy I was acting I'd say that makes them more likely to guess I was a jester. Of course they wouldn't necessarily say so publicly but it might have coloured their reasoning. Of course, they might also have jumped at the chance to justifiably lynch someone. No one's going to question anyone voting for me when I behave like that.
None of that is probably that helpful, but I'm tired and haven't re-read yet.

We are still supposed to be playing, yes? 16 hours with no posts doesn't bode well...

To be honest, I am not sure what is happening now... I have cast my vote, and I am waiting for things to happen.

With the game in a state of limbo, the lack of activity has come as no surprise.

Anyway, decision time.

Game goes on. I let my frustration get the better of me yesternight, and I've come around to keeping it going is probably the best solution. That was also the consensus of those who have messaged me. Thanks to all who chimed in with their opinion.

SPF will not be modkilled, as I both saw the original post, and believe this happened through no fault of his own. He will however be modsmacked-around a bit, for good measure. This won't have any in-game consequences. My apologies to Flub and Joe if they feel this is unfair.

I'll use this as a bit of a fresh start, and as such no one will be prodded for the next 48 hours. To balance things out, I'm giving an extension to the deadline.

So, sorry for all this, game on.

Right, but I still got lynched. Because it was so obvious, it would have been clear to the scum that I had a motive and wasn't just being extraordinarily bad at being town. To everyone else, I could have been playing extremely badly as scum or a jester. My point is there might be something to glean from the fact that the scum would have known I was not scum, moreso than a normal mislynch.

I didn't double post, the forum duplicated my post after I left the thread somehow. Zchinque has very kindly allowed me to live though, so on we go.

I'd like to see a case. You also failed to provide one when I asked about amok, and you never wrote much of a defense when I had you voted except to yell about how I was cherry picking.

Hmm... I don't like this. Not at all. I like to be the one playing jokes on OTHER people, not the other way around. How RUDE. I mean, seriously, you better check yourself mister trickster! *glares woefully at SirPrimalform, finally breaking into a smirk*

Seriously though. It is all well and good, but I have a few concerns:

1) Why did you fake role-claim Batman, of all people? I mean, you didn't even claim Bruce Wayne, you instead used his alter-ego. It seems pretty random given the town roles we currently know.

2) Zchinque did warn us to not even trust the moderator during this. So, while Andy Kaufman certainly seem appropriate for a Jester, could this not be some odd power SirPrimalform has to get the mod to fake roleclaim for him?

Something about all this just doesn't sit well with me, but maybe I am just being paranoid.

Regardless, confusion does not a guilty verdict make, so, back to my original target:

If indeed SirPrimalform is town, which by all indications he is (regardless of my uneasiness about how it went down), then she seemed to jump off the wagon at a fairly opportune time. It was just about the right place to jump off a wagon as a scum to be in a good position to say "I told you so" the next Day, since by all rights SirPrimalform WAS going to get lynched with his antics. It is something I might have done in her position as scum. By the same token, if SirPrimalform is indeed scum (as my gut keeps insisting, all evidence aside), then it was also not a bad time to jump off a wagon on a fellow scumbuddy. I just don't like her wagon jumping at all.

I like to make typos occasionally, and I really don't like not being able to go back and edit them out. This post should close the bold tag so it doesn't bleed down the page for anyone.

Hmm, good point. I was thinking of myself as mod confirmed but he did say not to trust him so I'll bear that in mind.
