I'm a PC gaming GEEK. I've been mainly a combat flight sim afficianado for over 15 years (Falcon 3 anyone?). But I also engjoy a good FPS, RTS, or RPG now and again.
I have a massive collection of older games myself, but some the CD's are busted or lost the CD-key, etc. This site is a god send. Save me the trouble of using eBay and also give new live to old classics.
I say "I hate you" because I know I'll end up spending lots of $$$ on this site. Best of luck though, hopefully it stays afloat.
I think with the new wave of "netbooks" on the way, with the modest system specs (Intel Atom 1.6GHz ~ P4 2.0GHz, 1GB RAM standard - upgrade to 2GB max, and GMA 950 graphics), this site should do fairly well.
Thanks for this, best of luck in making it work!
I'm being really careful. I have an urge to buy everything, but 2 games a month for me
Back in the mid to late 90s, when I didn't really have a steady income, I waited for some great games to fall in price or simply didn't purchase them. Case in point, I didn't play Diablo 1 until after I had played Diablo 2.
Now that ten years have passed and I have a real job, I can afford to pay for good games. This has changed my outlook. When a good game comes out, I want to buy it at full price in order to support the company and encourage them to continue to make great games. So for me, GoG is great because now that I can afford to buy games GoG offers an easy way to play some of the games I didn't play when they first came out. I can't wait for Planescape: Torment to get here.

I'm limiting myself to only buying a game after I've beaten the last one I purchased.
I'm okay so far, since a lot of the games I seriously want, aren't on GOG yet. I want them to be on GOG, so I can play them, but then I don't want to spend all this money..
If GOG delivers on 1/3 of what it is promising I'm going to have too much of a good thing!

You're not alone...
I would rather buy old games at GOG for 6 or 10 bucks and not wind up playing all of them right away than buy new games somewhere else for 5 or 10 times the price and not liking them all that much.
The low price is great for people like me who have a hard time finishing games. I get distracted by other games too easily...
I have to say I love this place. I've found most of the forum users really helpful and nice (I sincerely hope this doesn't change when it gets out of beta, though I'm sure it will have to), and have been surprised at just how much support is out there from the team (i.e. the list of mods available in the Fallout series forum). I really hope this place does well and doesn't change much from how streamlined, fast, and friendly it is now. I could sincerely waste a lot of money here, and I don't think I'd feel too badly about it afterward!
I have read that Planescape Torment will probably not end up here :(.
At least not as a part of Interplay deal -
"I'm pretty sure Planescape will not be included in that deal. All of the D&D licensed titles are no longer available to Interplay (the licensing agreement with Atari/Hasbro/WOTC has expired)." - Chris Taylor (maker of Fallout, Interplay forums).
I have the same rule as bpops.. beat the current game, then get the next.
Except the games I already own, but only as cut down versions, these I plan to get sooner.
Tragically I can't just decide which one to get first..
