As our catalog gets bigger and better every week, it’s easy to lose track of some of the awesome games that we have to offer. Of course Fallout, Baldur’s Gate, and some other of our most popular titles will always get a lot of attention, but GOG has many more classics to bring you. To help encourage you to explore the dustier reaches of GOG’s catalog, we’re going to be offering a promo on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Think of it as a curated promo on some of GOG’s favorite titles that you may not have played. Whether we’re encouraging you to explore incredible new worlds or inviting you to see how a titanic series got its start, we think every game we’re going to be offering on our GOG Gem Promos will be an excellent title, and we hope you give them all a try.

In today's promo we're presenting you one of the most fun and action packed shooter - Painkiller: Black Edition. Made by the Polish development studio People Can Fly, who recently released Bulletstorm, the game focuses on fast-paced action, weapons of mass destruction and hordes of fun to shoot enemies. Although Painkiller was released in 2004, it is a perfect example of the oldschool shooter games formula - run & gun! Let's be honest, it's not about the plot, it's just pure, unadulterated action. And with 60% off today you can't miss the occasion to check it out.

So grab Painkiller: Black Edition today for only $3.99! The promo ends tomorrow, April 7 at 5:59 a.m. EDT (11:59 a.m. GMT).
Well, that's strange. The second or third game on my GOG wishlist is a GOG Gem promo. This is surely some kind of sign.

you mean, that you have not bought a lot of games yet and only wishlisted them? :)
Thanks, GOG.com! I don't mean for this promo. I mean for the little things you do. I am paying attention. But thanks for this promo too.
Awesome game, any FPS fan needs to have it in their collection.

I keep a wishlist. Even at GOG's prices, I can't buy often. This has been on my list of 'to-buy' shooters for a while :D

was just a joke... unfortunately, the games on my wishlist were never on sale yet :)

deonast: Ok I'd originally thought I wouldn't get painkiller thought it wasn't my kind of game, but with all the positive comments and such a cheap price I'll get it.
I can't give any guarantees of course, but I don't really like shooters, yet had a blast with Painkiller. It's silly action and outrageous, amazing level design. Just be sure to skip the story :D
One thing that is misleading is the low amount of weapons. They have radically different alt fires and have cool combo attacks, making the 4 or 5 weapons seem like a full arsenal. Painkiller really does have the best weapon design in FPSs so far. The card system is pretty fun too once you've unlocked a bunch of them. I like slow time in conjunction with turbo speed.
Thanks GoG, I appreciate these sales, but I wish there was some way they could be sent to your e-mail, as I missed 2 sales I wanted, King's Bounty, and another game.
So many poeple download the game..... Its so slow....

I wish I could gift you my copy of King's Bounty, I didn't really like it. :(

Btw, I was serious when I asked if you can turn off the music in Painkiller (while keeping the sounds turned on). Surely someone here would know?

GameRager: Go in options and turn down music volume perhaps?
Perhaps or definitely? ;)

Not all games differentiate between sound effects and music. I really have no idea how this game handles it and my decision to buy it may depend upon on it. I'm grateful for any help!
Unlike Bulletstorm, Painkiller actually delivers a unique experience, definitely worth a buy.

A little late, but the answer to that is definitely. Here's a screenshot I took to prove just that.
