As our catalog gets bigger and better every week, it’s easy to lose track of some of the awesome games that we have to offer. Of course Fallout, Baldur’s Gate, and some other of our most popular titles will always get a lot of attention, but GOG has many more classics to bring you. To help encourage you to explore the dustier reaches of GOG’s catalog, we’re going to be offering a promo on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Think of it as a curated promo on some of GOG’s favorite titles that you may not have played. Whether we’re encouraging you to explore incredible new worlds or inviting you to see how a titanic series got its start, we think every game we’re going to be offering on our GOG Gem Promos will be an excellent title, and we hope you give them all a try.

After highlighting two great shooters in previous GOG Gem promos it's time for an awesome action-adventure game: Another World known in the USA as Out of This World. Created almost entirely by one person - Éric Chahi - for Delphine Software, the game was one of the biggest hits on the Amiga platform thanks to its atmosphere, cinematic feeling, great animation and the gameplay consisting of platform, puzzle and shooting elements. The story shows Lester, a young physicist, who suddenly finds himself in an alternate world after lightning struck during his experiment. Players role is to find a way to get Lester back to "our" world. The 15th Anniversary Edition, which is sold on GOG.com, introduced a remastered edition of the original (both versions are included) and some cool materials that showed how the game was made. With a 60% discount this is an offer you just can't miss.

So grab Another World 15th Anniversary Edition today for only $3.99! The promo ends tomorrow, April 21 at 5:59 a.m. EDT (10:59 a.m. GMT).

iuliand: I didn't bought it until now because I thought it was a little bit overpriced, but I couldn't refuse it this time...
Same here.

I love the Gems Promos so far. One, I already bought during Christmas Sale, one, I already owned boxed but bought it again on GOG, and now one, I had wishlisted for some time and bought it without thinking. More of that, please!

Hillsy_: Flashback was such a great game, I do prefer it over Another World. I hope GOG does get it somehow. Then again I hope GOG get Syndicate too :) Though not the sequel so much, just the original with the expansion. Ah! the days of yore.

Navagon: I think we'd have seen an updated version of that game too if the rights had made their way back to Eric Chahi. Who knows what happened to it?

The Syndicate sequel suffered the typical Bullfrog problem of letting you become too powerful later on. But it was still kind of fun in a sandboxy destruct-a-thon kind of way. I'd still get it on GOG just so I didn't have to fuss around adjusting the speed between the missions and the rest.
fingers crossed for Flashback then. Yeah, I would probably take the sequel to Syndicate too. Have to say though the first Syndicate was one of the finest games for the Amiga/PC, I actually managed to finish it too. The last level was so chaotic, fantastic stuff! Really hope to see Syndicate here too. I did hear about a syndicate game or remake for the 360, HD version maybe? Did you hear anything about it Navagon?

Side Note: Another World bought. Thank you GOG!

KingofGnG: Purchased it already, we need a bit of Flashback here thanks :-P
that would be fun! I've played it last year (and many many years before that) but was never able to get past that alien pink gooey part...

Zchinque: My banks systems are down due to some kind of technical error, so I am afraid I can't partake in this promo.
(waves magic wand)

*DING!*

You have been taken care of. I'll need your email address for gift delivery.; You can use the current GOGPM to contact me, seeing as how the "official" PM service isn't quite up, yet.

[Edit: I guess I'll have to check back after I return from work.]

Yep, the latest stages of the game are a bit hard. And somewhat prone to fortuity - ie there's no "perfect" path to follow to complete the stages. Like the Ghosts'n Goblins of yore :-P
I remember beating the original version of the game - but I don't remember as being particularly hard (even though I suck terribly at platformers). Is the new version any different? Yeah, the running sequence (under the lake thing) required a few retries, and so did the arena part, but it was all doable.

kazmar: I already have the 15th anniversary edition but that one is locked to 5 installs and I already have it on 3 computers.

So at this price I'd be a fool not to buy it..
Really? The retail version has installation limits? Am I glad I didn't buy it! I nearly bit and bought a copy from eBay last month, but decided on a whim not to.

Great... like I don't have ANY other games to play.
Nice Sale Gog, but unfortunately with school I'm going to have to pass!

Navagon: Totally different rights holder, unfortunately. That said I don't know who does have the rights to Flashback these days. It could still be a publisher who is with GOG already.
Yeah, I know. Come to think of it, I believe the rights are with Square Enix. US Gold published it originally, and they were eventually bought by Eidos. So yeah, probably yet another reason why Square Enix would be good to get on GOG.

On-Topic: Did I mention how Another World is awesome and everyone should buy it yet?! :-)

They're the most likely candidate too.
Blah, I just spent all my money on Magicka and Guilty Gear. This was on my wishlist too. :(

According to wiki CentreGold (partnership between U.S. Gold, CentreSoft - publishers and Core Design - developer) was aquired by Eidos. Eidos sold CentreGold's publishing business under the name of CentreSoft to Activision, but kept Core Design.

So I guess it's a matter of Actvision not sure if they have full rights to this title.

Who knows? I doubt even they do.
Already own it on GOG and it is one of my all time favorite games. I probably played the SNES version the most. Glad to have the classic on the PC.

I would agree with wanting to see Flashback here on GOG. Not sure who owns it, but lets see it happen.
