Best Game of 1996.--Gamest magazine, Japan

Street Fighter Alpha 2, one of the most successful 2D fighting games ever, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $2.39 for the next 24 hours!

Street Fighter Alpha 2 features many iconic Street Fighter characters like Chun-Li, Ryu, and Zangief, as well as some new challengers from the Final Fight series. For the first time in history, Sagat can face Sodom and Ken can beat the living hell out of Guy. Or maybe the other way around? All eighteen hardcore contestants are in their peek fighting shape, so just about anything can happen! Prove yourself in eight subsequent matches, discover your secret rival, and face your ultimate opponent. Let the tournament begin!

In 1996 Street Fighter Alpha 2 graced our screens as one of the last 2D fighting games with classic graphics. With the astounding animated backgrounds, and perfect character design, this game is a monumental achievement in pixel art. If not for anything else, the aesthetics alone make it an obligatory addition to any fighting game fan collection. Apart from the looks, it brings some fresh ideas to the table, replacing the Chain Combo mechanics with free-form Custom Combos, and introducing separate Alpha Counters for punch and kick attacks.

Kick hard, punch fast, and launch devastating combos in Street Fighter Alpha 2, for only $2.39 on GOG.com! The offer will last until Tuesday, February 5, at 10:59AM GMT.

With this, we're kicking off with our new GOG Gem Promo schedule. From now on, you'll get two of them every week: a classic title will be discounted each Monday, while Wednesday will give you a discount on one of our newer titles. This way, both indie and retro fans get a Gem each week!
Ok, why a Gem Promo on a Monday? Something to do with tommorow's conference, or someone pressed the wrong button?

Edit: To say nothing about the 2 prices mentioned on the news item, or the fact that there is no news item in the front page...

If you want to have more Capcom games on board, buy this game folks.
A gem promo for this game is great and all but....WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET MORE CAPCOM GAMES HERE GOG?

I guess it's a little copy/paste mistake, second price should say how much you save. But I'm also interested to know, is monday new/another gem-promo or just an exception?
Ok, news also went up on the frontpage and on FB, thus I guess it's not a glitch that it appeared today. Question remains, why the change?
Yeah, $3.60 is the amount saved on the game with the promo, not the amount you pay.

EDIT: Fixed, thanks GOG!

And... yeah, if you want more Capcom games, like everyone else is saying, then buy this here game. It's a great fighting game anyway.

Probably when sales of this will convince CAPCOM that it's worth it to release more games on GOG.

Great and unexpected promo, but I've already bought it for the full price. :)

The price snafu is on my part, sorry. The GOG Gem on Monday, however is no mistake.

Since some of our users prefer classics and some are here for the indies, we decided to split the Gem Promo formula in two. From now on, Monday will greet you with a classic Gem promo and the usual Wednesday promo will be reserved for newer games.
Damn, that was unexpected and my purse is empty :-( Next time, it seems ;)

You mean... We get 2 gem promos a week now? Awesome :D

On a related note - Can you play this right with a mouse and keyboard, or do you need some kind of controller ?
Which means that the Monday gap has been closed. :)

Keyboard controls, as it is a pc release. But controllers should be supported.
