A yummy tower defense/RPG snack, that's hard to refuse. May contain nuts.
Defender's Quest, an addictive mixture of tower defense and RPG set in a world shattered by mysterious disease, is available 60% off, on GOG.com. That's only $5.99 for the next 24 hours!

Did you ever want to have special psychic powers that would let you toy with souls of living human beings and bind them to your will? Please don't answer. Azra, the Royal Librarian, never asked for such a thing. In fact, she never asked for any of the ordeals that fate put her through. But--willing or not--she's become a hero and the future of her homeland depends solely on her. All because of her suddenly discovered ability to turn her companions into etheric specters and command them like pawns around a battlefield existing outside space and time. Wanna hear a secret? She's starting to enjoy it.

Defender's Quest does many things that many games fail to do. First of all, it's a tower defense game that never gets boring. That's mostly achieved by mixing in many RPG elements. That leads us to another thing that this game gets right--mixing genres. Nine times out of ten combining so very different gaming philosophies will backfire. Here, we've got the lucky number ten, that managed to hit the sweet spot and emerge as a perfect and seamless combination. The gameplay here is just as much enjoyable and intuitive, as it is fresh. The brilliant, unforced humor serves as the cherry on top. You'll be enjoying this game for hours. Be warned, though--it's quite addictive!

Answer the mysterious call, grasp the mystical power, and face the ominous force that plagues the Valley of the Forgotten. Are you prepared for hours of enthralling gameplay? Get your copy of Defender's Quest, for only $5.99 until Thursday, January 24, 10:59AM GMT.

If you'd like to try the game first, here's a lengthy browser-based demo (with the ability to export your saved game to the full version, so you won't have to start over after you decide to buy it).

I bought this game full price and don't regret it at all! The only Tower defense game that I feel is well made, intelligent and fun!

I'm thinking of getting another copy to gift to someone.

Anyway .. get this game, even if you don't like tower defense or RPG .. it's fun and has good story and an all rounf polished feel.

highly recommended.
Have to say, I wasn't initially going to buy this game as I've never been big on Tower Defense, but since it had the free "Try Me" web based version sitting right in front of me...

Needless to say, I bought it for the $5.99 after playing the web version and am thoroughly enjoying myself. Best Tower Defense I've yet played.

Producers should do more trials like this to show off the merch...

Zoidberg: Just tried the demo, seems nice enough but the price is too steep.

PaterAlf: You must be joking. For $5.99 it's a steal. It's not a game that is over after some hours. So far I spent about 70 hours with it and I'm still at the beginning of NG+ mode (have completed normal mode on all difficulties though).
Regular price is 14,99, THAT is steep.
Wow, quite a lot of praise from all directions... Makes me warm and fuzzy inside for having bought the GOG version already. I haven't played it yet though.
So, I've heard so many good things about this game over the last few months and so many people can't be wrong, can they? I have this on my wishlist but stil can't commit to it. There's always been something else on sale I wanted more or something else in my backlog to play. This is the lowest price I think I've seen on it but I've always had it in my mind to hold out for a 75% off sale or $4.99 pricepoint. Yah, its only a dollar away from it now but that's a dollar that can go towards another sale. I'm not that big on tower defense games either so that's another thing holding me back even though I've read its not your typical tower defense game. Decisions, decisions with around 20 hours left to decide.

Also, I figure someone will suggest to try the demo, so I might have to tonight after work. So thanks in advance for that whoever you are :-).

Use the 20 hours to try the demo and decide afterwards.
I have seen this on sale before on another sites and never really got that interested in it. It's mainly because compared to other tower defense games the graphics are weak. However, now I tested the demo as it was possible (actually very nice to have a browser demo!). I played through a few levels and liked the gameplay. RPG elements are also very intriguing as I like both tower defense and RPG games with a good story.

I did now put this on my wishlist, but I think enhanced edition would do a real justice for this game. Enhance the graphics, add voice over and also include alternative soundtrack. For example, I found the background music of menu screen highly repetitive/annoying. Even though the criticism, I keep an eye for this and the sequel!

That would be me. ;) You're welcome. And that would be a dollar well spent IMHO.

By the way, this game was 75% off in one of the bundles on the Xmas promo. Maybe you could have gotten the whole pack back then?
I am really interested in this game. Yet with a backlog of games and nearly no free time, the idea that there is a number two on the way makes me want to hold out for them both to come on sale together like GOG did with Disponia. (GOG there is a subtle hint like a sledgehammer).
If you don't buy this game, I'll break into your house and cut off your face!

It's that good!
The Royal... Liberian?

Well I hope i got money just in time to buy it. I am not a big fan of TD games, but i always wanted to try it (yeah, i played demo, but it was too short)
Ditto past posts, loved the demo and had to pick it up when it went on sale
We've only just barely started on Defender's Quest 2, so that's 6-9 months away at least and you know how planned release dates go :).

Official announcement coming soon.

Sounds good to me.
At my current rate I will have finished around 3-5 games by then and will be ready to place Defender's Quest 1 and 2 together into my gaming backlog to play back to back.
