Anyone suggest something for almost 4 years old beginning gamer? :)

He doesnt understand english, so something that doesnt require understanding english would be requirement.

Any ideas?
On GOG, you're going to struggle a little bit to find kids' games with limited text.

Perhaps Screamer 1 and 2? I've had a 5-year-old play Ridge Racer 7, and that worked quite well, even though she seemed to have more fun crashing into the walls than driving.

There's The Manhole, which is specifically for kids, but is fairly reading intensive.

Other than that...Giana Sisters, Worms and Mutant Mudds are all fairly good for kids. And if I recall correctly, Duke Nukem 1+2 are actually fairly harmless games with very little actual violence or adult content. Although I could be wrong.

How about Superfrog?

I've tried Superfrog with kids. It's not a good idea - too frustrating. They tend to get bored of it fairly quickly.

Edit: And for that matter, maybe Mutant Mudds is not such a good idea either.

Rayman 2 and 3. I played Croc 2 when I was a kid, so they should be able to play Rayman too :P

But 4-year-olds? I'm not so sure...

Machinarium and Botanicula are also a possibility, though you will need to be nearby to answer the questions there may be. Almost no text, though there are a few puzzles that you'll have to solve for him,

On the other hand, it might be worth saving them for when he's a bit older, so he can play them by himself ;)
Pinball games!

or Creatures Village.
That's a tough age to find games for on here....

Rayman 1 is too decievingly difficult, so despite the looks and gameplay, it's just too tough for my 8 year old to even enjoy (and he loves Rayman Origins). I haven't played enough of Rayman 2 and 3 to tell you if they would enjoy it or if an English understanding is needed

Battle Chess... it's Chess, with cartoon fighting. I think violence suchas that is probably too much for that age, but I don't know your convictions w/ parenting. Maybe too advanced, since it's Chess and everything, but MAYBE...

Motoracer? or any of the other racing games. Most racing games are simple enough, though I haven't played that.

Pinball Gold Pack... it's Pinball. Almost everyone loves Pinball. It just needs the understanding level of "hit the ball with the paddle".

Edit: removed a suggestion that wasn't how I remembered it. Thanks Zolgar :)

Guys, the kid is 4 years old... And you are recommending chess...? :P So I second Screamer 2

It's simple, arcade racing game that can be entirely controlled by arrow keys.

Braussie: Earthworm Jim 1& 2... Fairly simple, but depending on the child, it could be too much.
EWJ is not little kids fare.
It's crude, offensive, and a pain in the ass :p

My dad taught me Chess young- how to move and take pieces away- not advanced strategy aspects. And for kids, half of the fun is just playing a game. My son enjoys playing racing games, even when he just hits the wall and keeps pushing to the finish line.

It's been a long time since I played it (I was really young). I just watched a video of it, and I agree with you. I take back my initial suggestion of it :) Sorry for the lame, and inappropriate suggestion. I'm gonna remove it from my suggestion post :)

I'd have to agree on the chess games. It's just as fun without any strategy as I taught my 6 year old brother. I'd also recommend that Treasure indie game.

Treasure Adventure was a ton of fun, but may be a little advanced for the age, and it's also only offered in English. My 8 year old loved it, and it was right at his cognitive level for solving the puzzles.

But as you and I both said, half of the fun is just playing a game, even if nothing is accomplished, so maybe they'd just love the art and jumping around in Treasure Adventure. :) Plus, it's free on GOG :)
