You know how Oprah has her book club, where a bunch of housewives with nothing better to do sits aroud reading books mandated by their God, Oprah and they discuss it? Well, we should have that but for games. We'd all pick a game (something relatively old but not ancient, so everyone's computer has a chance to play it) that isn't a console game (so people who don't have a console can play) and we'd play it for say, one or two weeks, and we'd discuss it, perhaps in a separate IRC channel or in liveblog form. What do you guys think?

I actually like that idea. It could a good cause for some of us to discover those old hidden gems of old games.
A couple of questions:
1.) Will this be restricted to GOG only games or any PC game that applies?
2.) What about abandonware? For example, if a person once did buy the game when the company in question lived but now doesn't have the game or the hardware to run it i.e. those 5.25 floppy drives. Can we still play that game or will the gray area of abandonware =? piracy rear its ugly, divisive head?
My suggestion is to have everyone involved play The Legacy: Realm of Terror.

I'm not sure that any good can come of something inspired by oprah...
It's a good idea though, some of the more interesting parts of the discussion could be cobbled together into an article with a bit of background about the people involved so anyone reading it could get a sense of persepctive. This could be especially interesting if the game is multiplatform and there was a mix of PC/Console players.
I'd probably participate assuming I HAD the game in question.

Hmm, multiplatform wouldn't always work, because douchebag companies (ie. publishers) like to sell you a game with some extra stuff you wouldn't find on the console version, or vice versa (see Gears of War for Windows). And I want everyone to have played the same game, so that everyone is on the same page.
