acare84: How can you play across Europe to America? :) Pings would be so high.

Eh, it might be fun to try anyway. ;)

I've been working my way through the Freelancer campaign again. I... might be in for this. I've never actually tried the multi for this game, though. No idea how it even works.

Heh, I've played through the singleplayer campaign 12 times (8 times vanilla, 4 times with various mods). Visited every system, flown every ship (made a save for everyone of them) and so on. This over the course of a few months when I had nothing else to play (not that I actually felt like playing anything else) some years ago.
Vanilla multiplayer sets you up on planet Manhatten, with a Starflier and a bit of cash, and you're free to do anything you'd like. With mods it varies.

I'd be up for something like this. Count me in once we get the details in. Weekends are also best for me, unless you wait a couple weeks, when I'll be free for the summer :D

So kind of like a small scale mmo then? basically removing the first m.
I imagine having a squadron could make hard missions easier, can you actually take joint missions?
I'd go for UT 99 personally, and it would be nice to have it maybe on a weekday at night, since I don't have much time on the weekends (Killzone 2, woot!).
I heard talk of UT-2004. I loved that game. Especially bombing run. But nobody really played the mode. Everyone was off playing Onslaught. I mean, I liked Onslaught, but Bombing Run and Assault. Oh, God, Assault.
Dear Lord, I loved Assault maps.

I can relate.

Yes, you can. Just have to be in the same "party", and anyone can join in on missions. Using mods with dynamic economy, and more harmful pirates could be fun for some joint trading or smuggling runs.

I don't have that, and I've never even heard of it until now. Looks kinda cool, though very dated for a 2003 game.

Me too ! Shame they did not include it un UT3. That's why I play a lot UT99 and UT2004
If we go for UT2004 I heartily recommend we give Air Buccaneers a go as well. It's a total conversion mod for UT2004 that lets you fly around on hot air ballon pirate ships and shoot cannons at each other.

Neat, I hadn't heard of that mod before. Thanks for the link.

They have Warfare mode, which I think is the same thing with a different name. I'm not sure whether it was included in earlier patch levels, but it's in 2.0 and newer.
