Trust me when I say I really, really did not want to do this.
In post #114, Rodzaju starts calling for Angelo Cervi, in #119 for Denton Walters. In #136, he identifies me as Walters. And in #146, he shares this wonderful nugget:
"BAZ, you know who you are.
What possible setup would give that information to the mafia at game start?"
Unless the mafia is a bunch of clueless idiots, Rod has just given them my identity on a silver plate, and said that I was important for town. Well done, Rod.
Yes, that is what I am. I am Denton Walters, the Town Doctor.
As this information was all but out in the open anyway, I think it is preferable to cut the speculation short and claim, even though I hate doing it. Remember I'm not painting a target on my back with this, as I already have a perfectly good one there courtesy of Rodzaju.
Now after this happened, it was itai.sharim who asked exactly the right questions: in #149 "Why would you mark BAZ as special? Why would any town member do that?"; #151 "Why ask anybody not to identify themselves if you identify them yourself?" (to which, by the way, Rod immediately responded with a vote for itai in #152 which however was not bolded and as such is not included in the official votecount). Therefore,
unvote itai.sharim
That vote of mine was just a wake-up call, itai. What you were doing in post #195 wasn't pro-town. But no, I don't really think you're scum.
Now Rodzaju. There are two possibilities here, as usual. If he's town, his play has been as anti-town as it could possibly be: to give an executive summary, in a banal situation (at L-4), he tried to (needlessly) save his hide by outing the town doctor. I ask with itai, why on Earth would any town member ever do that?
The other possibility: he's mafia, and he's trying to pull the most audacious stunt ever seen on this site. A big question remains: why would the mod tell scum that I am the doc? I've been thinking about that for a long time, and I've come up with a hypothesis. Imagine this: a mafia that doesn't trust each other. Read the very first post; multiple mafias would be basically impossible to pull off in a 15-person game, but this would actually make a lot of sense, given the flavour. In such a scenario, I could just imagine a group of scum who are forbidden to share their information at night; a bunch of back-stabbing lone wolves, if you will.
To recap, if Rodzaju's town, his play on this day was extremely bad, and I'm perfectly willing to let him hang just to set an example. If he's scum, I want to applaud him, and let him hang right afterwards.
vote Rodzaju
Oh and by the way, I noticed one thing. Post #80, Robbeasy opens up the theory of Rodzaju's slip (speaking of "town", not "us", if you remember). #94, JoeSapphire jumps in to say this slip was not interesting at all, but Rob breaking out of RVS was. Several pages later, the sorry business of Rodzaju's claim is being discussed, and who jumps in but JoeSapphire in #164, curiously handwaving the whole thing? And when in #175 Joe points out the discrepancy in Grynn's statements re: his newbishness, what does Rod do two posts later? Votes Grynn. But of course they are not scumbuddying, they're just really good friends!
Post scriptum: there is, of course, a possibility that I am lying, as some of you will undoubtedly realise. There is no way to prove I am what I say I am, unfortunately; I have no other information than this, and no other role than a bog-standard doc. You'll just have to trust me, and ask yourself a very simple question: if I were scum, would I really post this?
