Zchinque's Plan, version 2.0
(yes, I have dabbled in programming, does it show?)
1. Day four, right now [8 alive: ZCH, SPF, JEF, RED, BAZ, NFY, DAM, NMI]
2. ZCH hammers SPF, both die
3. Night four begins [6 alive: JEF, RED, BAZ, NFY, DAM, NMI]
4. JEF kills DAM
5. RED *protects* JEF
6. BAZ *protects* and /blocks/ NMI
7. NFY investigates someone
8. Day five is dawning [5 alive: *JEF*, BAZ, NFY, RED, */NMI/*]
Branching point: I -- scum kills, II -- scum does not kill
Branch I
1. Day five opens with two corpses [4 alive: NMI, JEF and two of {BAZ/NFY/RED}]:[/i]
2. If everyone's claims are true, the dead man must be BAZ, but the plan covers other cases as well.
3. NMI is @town (couldn't NK; even if BAZ was killed, roleblocks are resolved first)
4. JEF is @town (killed DAM, couldn't NK another)
5. NFY shares her cop result
6. NMI shares his cop result
7. JEF, RED and BAZ report from their night actions
8. Claims are cross-checked
IF block A: a LIAR is found [4 alive: @NMI, @JEF and two of {BAZ/NFY/RED}]
A1. @NMI+@JEF+NON-LIAR lynch LIAR
A2. Night five begins [3 alive: @NMI, @JEF, one of {BAZ/NFY/RED}]
A3. @JEF kills NON-LIAR [2 alive: @NMI, @JEF]
A4. Town wins
End of IF block A
IF block B: no liar is found, RED is alive [4 alive: @NMI, @JEF, RED, {BAZ/NFY}]
B1. @NMI+@JEF+{BAZ/NFY} lynch RED
B2. Night five begins [3 alive: @NMI, @JEF, {BAZ/NFY}]
B3. @JEF kills {BAZ/NFY} [2 alive: @NMI, @JEF]
B4. Town wins
End of IF block B
IF block C: no liar is found, RED is dead [4 alive: @NMI, @JEF, BAZ, NFY]
C1. @NMI+@JEF+NFY lynch BAZ
C2. Night five begins [3 alive: @NMI, @JEF, NFY]
C3. @JEF kills NFY [2 alive: @NMI, @JEF]
C4. Town wins
End of IF block C
Branch II:
1. Day five opens with just one corpse [5 alive: JEF, BAZ, NFY, RED, NMI]
2. Cop results are not necessarily reliable, night actions do not confirm anyone as town
3. NMI shares his cop result
4. NFY shares her cop result
5. JEF, RED and BAZ report from their night actions
6. RED is lynched
7. Night five begins [4 alive: JEF, BAZ, NFY, NMI]
8. JEF kills NMI
9. BAZ *protects* and /blocks/ NFY
10. Day six is dawning [3 alive: JEF, BAZ, */NFY/*]
IF block A: scum kills on night five
A1. Day six begins [2 alive: BAZ and {JEF/NFY}]
A2. ScumBAZ wins
End of IF block A
IF block B: scum did not kill on night five
B1. Day six begins [3 alive: JEF, BAZ, NFY]
B2. JEF and BAZ report from their night actions
B3. NFY shares her cop result
B4. Heated debate ensues, someone gets lynched
B5. Town wins or Scum wins
End of IF block B
I think this covers every eventuality, but I'd be glad if someone went with a fine toothed comb over it (ideally everyone, obviously). Zchinque?
Post scriptum:
* That liar block in (I.A1-I.A4) is a new addition and is basically pointless, as the other two (B&C) cover the same eventuality as well. This just finishes the game quicker. I originally planned to add one to branch II as well, but it turned out to be too much of a hassle with confusing nested IFs. So I threw it out again. Basically, if an obvious lie is uncovered in the crosschecking (step II.5), the liar should be lynched, because we presume there is one scum left. If the game should continue after that, the plan can be easily adapted, just changing a few names from II.6+ onwards. (This also helps prevent scenario II.A).
* What I would do as scum to try and upset the plan on night four is fairly obvious: kill DAM, hoping the action will be performed before JEF gets to him (I AM IN YOUR HEAD, SCUM!). This would mean DAM's corpse could turn up with the tell-tale marks of a Shattered Hand nightkill, spreading confusion. In that case, however, the plan can continue with branch II as if nothing happened.
Risks of the plan:
* If there are two or more scum, there are countless ways in which the plan could be abused and town most likely loses.
* A redirector-type role might mess up things considerably, but it should be manageable. I believe the chance of such role being around is relatively low, though (the Shattered Hand mafioso we're looking for was paired with a role cop, so I would expect him to be either a primarily killing role without any special night action or just a minor one; remember the Gambianis had a roleblocker and a hammerer).
* If Baz is scum, the plan could very well play into his hands. But I'll remind you it was not me who came up with it.
* If a townie is hiding something that could mess with the proposed night actions, the plan may fail.
