Even if I'm telling the truth, It would be very easy for the mafia to add that extra vote & kill him anyway.

The whole point of getting claims out in the open was to examine them & try to pin down the scum.
All we seem to be getting is a whole lot of wine, so I do what I can to cut through the crap....

This bothers me somewhat. Let me line up my assumptions for claritys sake...

1 - Vitek says this as he likely has some sort of power role that he loses if he discusses. Perfectly reasonable for him to present in this fashion.
2 - Assuming he has a power role of some kind he would have used it over the past three nights to come up with some useful information.
3 - He has spent a large amount of time mapping out his case against me.

So, there are my assumptions. If you think those sound reasonable, I will now take you to my line of thought... I have a somewhat unique perspective on this as I KNOW I am Town. If you can believe that, then it begs the question why he is spending his time on me. The obvious answer is of course he knows I am town as well. None of this came together in my head until he decided to not claim and brush it off.

To be fair and balanced... The Issues!

1 - You must believe I am town.
2 - You must presume that he cant state his claim as he will lose his ability.
3 - Even if all this true, what was he doing with all the rest of his time?

as I understand it, cop gets a positive result; yes or no; whereas theif only get a hint, I only got that Rod was a magic user, not his orientation.

There can be a number of different cop roles.
The traditional cop (Orry) gets a guilty / innocent type result.
A Role cop gets the role (Vanilla, tracker, whatever).
A name cop get's the character name.
A flavour cop gets flavour info on the target.
This last is very similar to your flavour thief.
Presumably you steal something that indicates the flavour of the target.
