Orryyrro: The deadline is close and he seems the most suspicious by a small margin.

xyem: Mind if I ask how so?
You were involved in a discussion about your towniness/scumminess with both baz and NFY.

it is a small margin, but there is nothing else I have to go on.

He's right y'know, the deadline is looming :/
Sorry Xyem... *jumps on bandwagon*

unvote xyem to give him a chance to tell us why we shouldn't lynch him before we leave him at L-1
No point in voting him, but Littlerabbit has just lit up my scumdar.
A vote with no other justification than bandwaggoning.....

And that I agree that he's being the most suspicious; PLUS what french said about there being something fishy.

I'm sorry if I was a little too quick. I'm new to this as I said. I've only played 2 mafia games in real life, and this is my first forum mafia. I'm finding it's quite a different kettle of fish with lots of subtle rules and stuff which i'm not used to. For example: Why is it bad to 'soft claim'? (indeed what exactly is the difference between softclaiming and normal claiming?)

Since I've clearly done something too hasty; and I still have no idea who to vote for:
unvote xyem
Well, in light of the last post. vote xyem again.

I have no problem with him being at L-2, but I don't want him at L-1 until he has a chance to defend himself.
Well, that was weird.

Softclaiming is a two edged sword. Mafia might want to plant a fake soft claim relatively early to have something to fall back on if things go wrong, which is the chief reason softclaims are seen as suspicious. As with hard claims, they ultimately only make life easier for the mafia, because townies never ever lie (or at the very least, never ever should lie), so all information coming from the town helps scum narrow down the power roles. Or to rephrase it, through their silence, plain vanilla townies help protect the power roles, which is their job, after all. Giving out information for free is stupid. (Now where have I heard that before?)

The difference between a claim and a softclaim is nothing set in stone. In general, a softclaim is subtler, often just partial, and usually is dropped rather casually. Hard claims are typically only provided by people about to be lynched or power roles coming out in the endgame.

bazilisek: If the deadline is serious, and I hope it's not, we're screwed.
Well, we were screwed since the deadline was issued.
I think it wasn't possible to conclude something in five days.

I would be careful with lynching someone just because we don't have anyone else to lynch ven if he doesn't look much suspicious.
I know nolynch isn't good option but if you look at game 5, this (lynching without evidences) almost lost us the game.

While this is true, I think he is the most suspicious, so putting pressure on him is, I believe, the correct thing to do.

"Almost"? Meaning you won? I would say you are thinking about this in the wrong way...

Yes, the town almost lost that one, precisely for the reason Vítek gave. It was only thanks to a stroke of luck (and a twist in the setup the mafia did not see coming) that they did win eventually.

Which, incidentally, was how I learned time limits can do more harm than good in the early days. Because I modded that one.

I see.
Your vote simply said it was jumping on the bandwagon without any other justification.
Not quite so incriminating then....

Thanks! That's very helpful.
I'm still a bit lost, but I suppose that's Day 1 for you.
Will read Mafia wiki when I get the chance, I think that will clear up most of my problems; but have just been given two more assignments for uni- bleh!

But only because Typhoon was mafia jester and got himself lynched. To this point it looked grim with town.

So you think he should be lynched only because he argued with bazilišek and NotFrench?

Keeping him on L-2 is not so bad thing, though, so while I direct this to you I should FOS:littlerabbit as she was the one to put him to L-1.
I still don't think he should be lynched just because of this.

littlerabbit: (indeed what exactly is the difference between softclaiming and normal claiming?)
Softclaiming is hinting i.e. you are nurse and fullclaim is saying you are Town doctor with ability. (Taken from mafia 2)

Not quite as incriminating, but still somewhat incriminating, as there was no reason not to put the reason with the vote. Granted, it's something I also tend to do, so....
