It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

Hello,
I’d like to request that the GOG downloader have an option for automatic retries. The reason for this is that currently I’m trying to download Fallout and the ETA for completion is between 1 and 3 days (I have a very bad/slow connection). The GOG downloader seems to stop or timeout every 10MB and it doesn’t automatically resume, I have to manually press resume for the download to continue. The automatic retries could be set for every 30 seconds or even every minute so that your download servers don’t get hammered. Anyway that would really help me get the content that I purchased. Thanks.
Neil
Maybe a look at you ISP and line would be in order prior to GOG spending money and releasing an update that, for most people, isn't necessary?

If I was anywhere in North America or anywhere with a decent connection I would agree with you. However when you are sharing a 7Mb line with hundreds of other users the connection is what it is, and whatever the cost is to add a few lines of code to the GOG downloader I’m sure is cheaper then the cost of just one month of 7Mb internet service here which is in excess of $10,000 US per month. I probably should mention the fact I’m in Afghanistan though, it should clear things right up.

Battlement: Hello, I’d like to request that the GOG downloader have an option for automatic retries.

Oooh, I love this idea! I have the same problem, even though my connection is quite fast. The downloder disconnects every now and then and it makes the donloading process longer. I often have to check if everything is ok. For this reason, after a couple of tries, I've returned to Firefox's downloader. Automatic retries would be awesome!
As of version 0.9.22 our downloader should continue the download after a broken connection or a time out. The fact that it stops completely means that there are difficulties with reestablishing the connection.
It would help us a great deal if you could send as a log file with this unusual behavior, you can do that by:
1. Starting the downloader app, and starting to download the file
2. Wait for the transfer to stop in a way that would require you to manually resume
3. Close the app
4. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\com.gog.downloader.SIGNATURE\Local Store
where:
USERNAME - is your system user name
SIGNATURE - is a long string of random letters & numbers
5. Send the "gogDownloader.txt" file to support@gog.com with the link to this post and short description of the problem.
It is important that you proceed exactly as written above, because the downloader clears the logs every time it starts, so you have to catch the bug in the logs and send it to us before you relaunch the downloader app.
It will help us to determine what is wrong and to fix this in the next release of our app.

Having just come back from Iraq I can only sympathise but essentially you're stuck with the system admin you've got, which might be the problem. Especially if it's those nasty folk at Paradigm!

Thanks Venom,
I have sent an email as you instructed with the gogdownloader.txt file zipped up and attached. 385MB/507MB downloaded so far 8h 50m remaining. Keep up the great work and thanks for gog.com!
