Can you make it Flash or Silverlight based, instead of Air?

Air is better than Silverlight or Flash?

I think they already chose platform and asking them for it now is useless.

Well, they said they rewrote most of the code... Maybe they still haven't touched the Downloader, or rewrote it to use some other framework?

Don't you know? Flash is evil. And Silverlight is made by Microsoft. Who is also evil.

Even if it was flash based, it'd surely be running inside AIR.

Remember, AIR is basically just a lightweight WebKit browser with built-in Flash and a few functions to give Javascript and Flash more access to various OS functions (such as printing and reading/writing files).

Just like browsers have functions that Javascript cannot use elsewhere (such as alert(), which cannot be used in Windows Scripting Host even if a similar function is available to VBScript in the same environment).

But I loved the downloader. What's so wrong it had to be removed?

(It was actually one of the better pieces of software I've seen - it worked exactly like it was supposed to...)

Can a downloader be made based on HTML5 standards, instead of AIR/Flash/Silverlight etc.?
If it can, then that is what I would prefer.
