It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Voideka: When I try to log in to the downloader, after entering my info the login screen goes away and comes up again immediately, saying login required. Any idea how to fix this? I've got version 0.9.0.1372 which appears to be the latest version.

I'm trying to look through this thread in case it's been addressed already but I'm not having any luck.
You don't have any strange characters in your password do you? There seems to be a few that cause trouble, = being one of them (and I bet there are a couple others as well).

Dead1nside: With the introduction of the new downloader it doesn't appear to be able to be used on Linux as easily, if at all, is there a way to use it on Linux? Thanks.
Earlier in this thread, yes.

I found that if you attempt to download any game using GOG - Downloader, make sure that you have enough disk space on C: drive (or WINDOWS drive) because the partial download of your game is stored Users/My Documents folder in Windows 7.
Hi,

I just downloaded the new gog.com downloader 0.9.0.1372 and removed my old adobe air based downloader.

I tried to download a game I just bought with it, but when I click on "add to GOG.com Downloader" in "My account", it doesn't appear in the downloader (this step worked without problems in the old version). I tested this with several games, just in case it was only a problem with the game I just bought, but it always delivered the same negative result.

I restarted the downloader several times, logged in a couple of times and tried it with admin privileges (I'm on Windows 7 x64). So far nothing helped.

Has someone else experienced a similar problem? Any tips?

Thanks!

No, but my email address has a + in it. Why doesn't the downloader accept special characters?

I've had the same problem with Firefox and IE9. I got it to work by running the .exe within the WinRAR program, if I extract it and then run it, I get that error. I hope that helps.

Hellfire13: Well, as crazy as this solution sounded at first, it actually does work that way for me and the downloader now functions as it should!
Since I have already downloaded the first two packages through my browser I probably won't use the downloader for The Witcher 2 (4 Gigs already took me a good 10 hours with my crappy DSL 1000 connection ;-) ) but at least the whole thing is working now.
Thank you very much for the tip!
Your welcome. I'm so looking foward to playing The Witcher 2!

ToxicStorm: Thank you for the 'run while in winrar/7zip' suggestion because it worked!
No problem
Hi.
Just dl'ed the 0.9.0.1372 downloader and I'm having some trouble downloading The Witcher and The Witcher 2.

Login is fine and it works to download the rest of the games I have bought but when I try to download the two witcher titles the games come up in the dl'er with the note "fetching download size..." but then I get an error "Cannot fetch game details, please use our contact form".

Win7 firewall has an exception for the gog dl'er but I've also tried disabling the firewall altogether to no effect.
I've also tried disabling my AV (Avast) also with no diffence.

I can dl them through the browser but as I'm using a wireless connection (nothing else available I'm afraid) I don't want to have to dl 9gig only to find I have crc errors when I try to unpack them or as has happened, dl 1.4 gig and have my connection reset and the dl fail and have to restart the dl . :( Would profer to use the gog dl'er.

When I check in TCP view whats happening, gogdl'er establishes a port, sends 3 packets, receives 3-5 packets then the port goes to CLOSE_WAIT state and it repeats about 25 times before the dl'er displays the error state.

I'm running win7 (64) SP1, FF 3.6.17, GoG DL'er 0.9.0.1372. with a wireless connection.

Any help appreciated.

edit: I've also tried setting UAC to lowest level.

Don't know, contact support about it.

You can manually set the destination.

Hi!

I did experience same problems (also on WIN 7 x64).

First solution - as already mentioned here in the thread - is try running the .exe within the winrar, 7zip (or similar) program instead of extracting it first.

Second solution: try experimenting with the Windows compatibility settings. In my case it has helped to choose Windows XP Service Pack 2 (AND don't forget: 'run as administrator') to finally get it working again.

Strange thing, until yesterday everything worked flawlessly...
right now i cannot get past the login screen of th downloader. it keeps saying that email and/password is wrong. i recently downlaoded a few games but now it suddenly stopped working. the website accepted my email and password when i changed my password but that didnt helped either.

Same problem I'm having. Downloader will not let me log in yet the website works fine.
nevermind. I figured it out. If you're trying to run the downloader from the shortcut in your start menu you are running the wrong file. The downloader is now a stand-alone executable that you dont even need to install. DL the downloader and just extract the exe it gives you o your desktop and run that. Plain and simple. No installation necessary.
My downloader just deleted ~400 MB of the Witcher 2 that I had just started downloading. I paused the downloader for a minute, and resumed it again, only to see it jumping back to 0 MB. No files present in the folder either.

Neikius: Opera user here.

Worked fine for the first download, but now I cannot add anything else to the downloader. "No registered applications for this extension" even though I checked in settings there is gogdownloader protocol added and points to the correct file...

silvaril: Once you tick the box in the second pop-up to skip having to hit Okay a second time, then you get this message.

Not sure about the fix yet...
there is a workaround
go to opera options/programs page
there delete the gog protocol association
next time you start a download an unknown protocol window will show up
do NOT click on "do not show this...." (if you do you will need to delete it again)
click yes and it will work again
