They restored the site features yesterday I believe.

Yeah, it's one hell of a deal ;-)
Reddit, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

They still offers me games I own. With no noticed of ownership until I'm on the gamepage/checkout. That wasn't the case before the change.

That's strange, it tells me what games I own.

4chan is just ironically shit, it's aware of how shit it is and it's residents are trapped behind it's walls by addiction. Reddit is just as shit but hides behind a pompous display of self-importance, "front page of the net" and all that, a polished turd.

SimonG: You know that this is a marketing ploy into buying you games you don't really want so you can complete a fake "collection".

It's not a bad thing, but GOG is certainly not doing it to do you a favour. Heck, their removal of site features prior to this sale has caused zero buys from me. As I own all GOGs I want I can only be tempted by impulse buys. And without knowing what I own and what not before going to the game page, my impulsiveness is significantly hampered.
Well I don't think I'm that naive. Or maybe I am. GOG is a business and needs to make money to stay in business, so they presumably use standard (and maybe some not-so-standard) marketing tricks of the trade to extract moolah out of people.

Anyway, I'm just linking b/c I think it's neat when r/gaming (as silly as they may be) post something funny or related to GOG.

Some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen has come from 4Chan. But yes, Reddit and 4Chan are places I generally avoid, aside from r/gaming and r/trees (the weed sub-reddit, even though I don't smoke).

Same here. I'm pretty sure they only disabled the feature due to the onrush they were expecting of people trying to get their hands on Duke, not because of the Christmas sale itself.

4chan was funny in 2007-8 when it was first around and new, when it was an English lang version of 2chan it's Japanese counterpart, it wasn't a well-known site, or rather when it's users were all naive nerds/the same type of people, so it had a friendly but whacky board culture. The breakdown of the community was caused essentially by influx of "mainstream" posters from the boom in social networking, who really had no affiliation to liking anime (which was what 4chan was actually originally for), this caused a lot of conflict and bitterness and broke the homogeneity of the community.

These days 4chan is basically exactly what you'd expect a site would be if every common people was able to post anonymously on a board with basically no rules over what they say.

Anyway, off-topic.

I believe we've already turned the "OWNED" notice in the catalog back on, haven't we? What other features are you talking about?

EDIT: I'd note that the reason we turned the feature off was to reduce the chances of site go crashy boom. It seems to have worked. :)

You own some games, you keep the discount is the greatest feature on GOG. I don't recall any other shop doing that.

Even though it is a marketing strategy (just like everything), it's a bloody good one.

Yes you have, some time yesterday. And it's working fine.

Yes.

However, the current front page promo doesn't show that you own the games.
ie: Witcher 2 doesn't say that I own it on the front page.

Not a big deal to me, but just saying...

EDIT: Neither do the 9 game spots at the bottom.

Thank you GOG for using marketing tactics to try and get me to buy games I normally wouldn't and will never play.

You guys are so awesome.
