My best friend praised this website and it's content.

I signed up, bought "Unmechanical" and, guess what, it doesn't run. Files are missing, so says the program. I tried the help in the forum. Still doesn't work.

So I tried the free "Under A Steel Sky" and as soon as I try to move Robert Foster across the screen, the program exits and gives me a black window. Music is playing in the background, but I can do nothing.

So I tried the Treasure Adventure Game for my son. The arrows on my keyboard move the highlighted controls up and down, but no keys on my keyboard act as an "Enter" key. I can highlight "Play" but I can't press it.

I'm not impressed at all. I've lost money and time.

I didn't have a single problem with my games. On top of that i'm running on Linux...

Make sure that the games are installed properly.
Also did you contact staff? If not you may want to do so, they can help you the most.

In Treasure Adventure Game, the Z key should allow you to choose your desired option.

There are a few games that might give you some trouble setting up (on GOG and everywhere else, Steam has problems with many games as well), but the GOG support is good, try emailing them for help.
If you want us to help you, you need to provide more information:

- What Operating System are you using: Linux, Windows, or Mac?
- What is the version of the above Operating System?
- Post your computer specs.
- Provide more info on which folder/directory did you install the games.
- Did you check the digital signature of the installers, are they okay? (Granted I myself have not found an easy way to check this under Linux, but if you're under Windows you can see it in the property window)

Help us before we can try to help you.

DITTO this.

If the OP has made attempts to contact support and still has these problems then he has my sympathy and I feel he has every right to be mad, or to quote Mr. White, "Supper Fuckin' Pissed". IF however he hasn't even tried to contact support or even querie his problems in the forum then I'm afraid I can't really say he'll be missed if he decides to leave.

Losing money is scary as hell; sometimes I bleed the shit.

Kidding aside, support will help, as these games work for many people with many different hardware configurations. It will be the same for you.

Other guys pretty much summed things up. Support is pretty good as well as an awesome knowledgeable (well most.... hehe) & helpful community. Don't give up :)

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium on an HP desktop with an AMD A4-3420 processor at 2.8 GHz with Radeon HD graphics. 4 GB of RAM.

I installed the programs where the installation program wanted to put them, in the Program Files (x86) folder. That's what installation programs are for, right, to install programs where they are supposed to go?

And yes, I've tried installing each game twice as Admin. The GOG Downloader checked the digital signature on each game to make sure all of it was there.

But, yes, when the games say I meet the requirements and none of the first three games run, you bet I'm pissed.

On TAG, "Z" as an action key? Since when? Of course, the game wouldn't let me toggle on the "Controls" to see what they actually are.

"Worlk" means that my fingers type about as well as these games from GOG play. ;)
Never heard of "Under a Steel Sky", is that the sequel?

I don't mean installing them, I mean actually running the games as admin. You know, right-click on the .exe of the game, and setting it to run as admin in "Properties" .
I smell Steam all over this guy.
I've got over a 150 of these games GOG sells and all of them play just fine. We are trying to help you but comments like that aren't making it easy.

It's a shame you've had such a bad early experience of GOG but I think you've just been unlucky so far. You've definitely got a right to moan though, and the GOG forums are much more amenable to complainers than some other forums are. If I'm having a bad experience I won't hesitate to say so but I've bought 55 games from GOG in 46 weeks : I can say that only 4 of them don't work at the moment and I'm pretty confident that the others (or some of them at least) will work in the future, once I find the right solution for my particular machine. The forums for the particular games you've bought are a better place to look than the general forums for troubleshooting, though I'll admit that it's my experience that if a game isn't particularly popular you'll have a harder time finding a solution if it just won't work, or won't work satisfactorily. I share your frustration, though, when things won't work without your first having to alter something but I think GOG are doing their best to make all their games work for people with all kinds of computers.
