GOG here as well.

I didn't really think anyone actually spelled it out until I started watching TeT on "This week on gee oh gee dot com".

(Something I loved watching and miss BTW)

IAmSinistar: Too bad there isn't a polling function for threads. I would be quite curious to know how many folks here pronounce GOG as the word "Gog" and how many, like the actual GOG staff, pronounce it as the letters "Gee-Oh-Gee". I'm guessing that has something to do with one's perception of the site as well. I say it as the word "Gog", so the old acronym doesn't occur to me as often as someone who says it as the letters, I'm betting.
A well a everybody's heard about the gog
g-g-g-gog gog gog g-gog's the word.

Yes, I pronounce gog as the word "gog", not the letters "gee-oh-gee". It's also funny that, despite all linguistic differences and all the wide phonetic perceptions of the distinct people from the various countries that come here, saying gog as a word and not as an acronym would work wonderfully, as it seems it's pronounced universally the same way, "gawg" (damn you, English speakers, and your awkward phonetic-to-orthographic system! XD ). It's kind of its own brand, sounds the same in pretty much every language, it's easy to remember and associate with what it is.

I also don't think they should create a new acronym for it. Gog works well for what it is: gog. If people still associate it with the old "Good Old Games" name, I don't see what's so wrong with that. It's one of the things gog excels at, and they should be proud to be deemed the place to go, in order to get your classic games fix. I never came across anyone asking me what does gog stand for, maybe it has something to do with me actually saying "gog" and not "gee-oh-gee", it could be, but maybe it also has to do with the fact I try to explain gog nevertheless, even if people don't ask me. Which would lead me to the conclusion that all this "confusion" is actually a good thing, as it gets us talking more about gog and spreading the word around.

Darvond: Only if it makes it harder to pronounce.

IAmSinistar: I certainly have no idea how to pronounce it. The C-cedilla I know, the rest may as well be in a foreign language.

Oh, right.
H-schwa-oooh-gfblpax.

I think its something like that.
If the original Monkey Island Games ever end up here, I hope GOG adds an "r" for a while.

GrOG!

ReynardFox: The site needs a new acronym and it needs to be pushed... Personally I like the idea of something along the lines of "Good Original Games".

What do you guys think?
I think "Good Original Games" still leaves it with the same acronym. :-)
GOG is a well known brand at this point with a large customer base and it does not need to be an acronym.

/thread
It is a stretch calling many of the games on this website "good". I propose just "Games".

g.com, I like that.

ReynardFox: I can't deny it, I'm kinda diggin' the umlaut. :p

Grumpy Old Gamers?
"GOG.com is made by gamers, for gamers."

Gamers Offering Games.
Gods Of Games? :D
If GOG keep bringing old games back to life as well as continually adding new games, they should adopt "Generations of Games".
It still works.

Good Ol' Games!

Crikey thems some good ol' games!
Sooner or later every good game is a good OLD game, you know? ;-)

So the "old" can staaay forever!

There's also a nostalgia in it like in "the good ol' times"... and I don't know what's wrong about that.
