This is the spot where I buy games, so I propose G Spot.

It needs a free roam mode where you can one minute pick up a hooker in a car, next minute drive over to starforce HQ and blow it up.

They already use the acronym DRM free, as in for example "The DRM free Time machine sale" .... maybe that is the way to go?

Gobs of Germans

In French, gogue (pronounced "gog") is a slang word for toilets. Which makes it somewhat awkward when I pitch my favorite gameshop website to my friends ^^

But yeah, even if I buy quite a few indie games here, GOG is "the place that sells the best oldies, and make them work on my computer!" DRM free is a nice bonus, but not what drew me here.
And I like it that way. "Best old videogames shop in the world" is maybe not the most glamourous title you could get, but it's a world champion title anyway. I never bothered to check GMG, GG, etc... because they're "just another shop, and yet another account to create". But I came to GOG because they offered something different than other shops, because in their category, they're simply the best.

Well with umlaut it would be pronounced like the "i" in Sir :D

As it was said a bit earlier, there is no downside in going from french toilets to hungarian pride. I like the umlaut/diaeresis/tréma.



edit : yes to umlaut, the two other are just for canceling diphthongs.

Weighing in latish here, but I suspect many newcomers don't realise that GOG is an acronym, and thus aren't aware of the "old" connotation. Besides, every game will eventually be an old game.

I don't see a reason to change, but how about G0G? Stands for "Games, Zero Grief". :)

And I suspect the Gs are so common in gaming stores because, well, Games starts with a G.

I should have mentioned, I really dig the umlauts. But the GOG logo would have to be redone in a blackletter font. See attached. :)

Might come in handy the day gog starts selling second hand liquor online.
