Naaah...the most, if not only, significant pressure on GOG is when other DD stores start selling good old games in a level comparable to GOG.

Its an assumption. The surprise release was on thursday not tuesday after all the comments on the message board, which gog staffers check.

Which was the same thing they did the last time there was no Teusday release... as well as the time before that and the time before that. They have always made sure to release at least two games a week, as long as they have at least two games "in the pipe" ready for release. This week was no different than every other time it has happened, hence why the complaining and nagging was completely unnecessary and in the end accomplished absolutely nothing.

Exactly. There is nothing new here, and there certainly isn't anything to indicate that the second release would never have happened without 'holding GOG's feet to the fire'.
And even if it hadn't, so what? I fail to see how this would indicate some precipitous decline in service, as JacobNZ seems to think.

It does seem like the release of this game wasn't planned (and it certainly didn't fit with the "month of activision" thing). I would guess the original plan was to release two Activision-games this week, but that something went wrong with their tuesday release.
I still don't see anything wrong with this thread. I think it's just petty and fanboyish to attack people who ask questions when GOG don't release stuff on their traditional release days, and don't give any updates about the situation either. A quick response from a GOG-staffer would have cleared everything up.

If all they had done was ask a question, I would agree agree with you, but they didn't just ask a question, they got all petty and anti-fanboyish, accusing GOG of things like "dropping the ball" and "slacking off", when we all know this has happened before and will probably happen again, it doesn't actually mean that GOG is losing it in any way.

I don't know if solidsmooky knows this, but it's not a simple process to make old games work on a modern computer. I'm experienced with this myself. I had to follow a complicated process step-by-step, going into the .bat files, changing variables, turning on and off different Windows features, ect., to get Zork Nemesis to run on my computer. Even then, it still wasn't working so I had to mess with the files more and figure things out on my own.
Now, imagine having the task of making that work for EVERY SINGLE PC. Packaging the fix along with the game is no small feat, and sometimes it gets even more batshit-crazy than what's needed for Nemesis. I couldn't even get Sanitarium to properly run on my main computer until these guys released a version that worked! To even imply that they're slacking off is like a kicking a guy in the groin that gives you a nice chocolate cake.

Fair enough, though taking a neutral POV I do think they failed a bit when they didn't release anything on Tuesday after hyping the month of Activision so much. That's not meant as an attack on them.
And as a fan I would certainly have appreciated an update from someone at GOG - they knew people were expecting a game on Tuesday (the anticipation was probably a lot higher than usual), and they're usually pretty good at keeping us updated.
But whatever. It's history.
