I think the real crime here is that he didn't buy the gog version instead.

Indeed. Bake 'em away toys.

Zeewolf: Fair enough, I just don't want to jump to conclusions. They obviously have a license to sell the game from Codemasters, so it's not completely unthinkable that they have been allowed to use the GOG-version.
avatar
cogadh: How is that in any way obvious?
Check their website; does it look like they're a bunch of pirates to you? To me it looks like they're a local distributor (and the OP described them as the biggest one in Turkey), and that means they get permission to distribute games from international publishers. Just like CD Projekt in Poland.

While that is actually true in this case (grynn already covered it), the fact that they have a professional-looking website is just as meaningless as a professional-looking CD/DVD case. How many legit looking websites are actually a front for spammers and spyware? Way too many to count, but you still wouldn't trust any of them. All I'm saying is, "you can't judge a book by its cover"; just because it looks legit, doesn't mean it is. Given the fact that they are obviously using the GOG installer, I still have my doubts about the legitimacy of this company, even if they are the biggest software distributor in Turkey.

Aye, pirates are the biggest distributors in many countries like China, still doesn't make them legit. :D

Some people are overly sensitive to it... maybe he should have said "crusade" instead.

No but the poor taste of the joke does.

It's still not that much of a big deal imo. I've dealt with both sides of the debate(muslims/terrorism/how they don't and do relate and all that nonsense) over the years and I guess i've become jaded to it after hearing every serious commentator and jokester on comedy central make light or dark of it, but still IMO it's not that big a deal. Especially since the commentor made it in jest(I don't think the utterer is a racist/etc perse, so it doesn't bother me as much.)

Maybe, but why? Just like why we should censor Mark Twain like some are doing with their edition coming out soon? :\

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

P.S. I'll be right back....I gotta go Jihad and Hari-Kari Kamikaze all over this delicious KFC chicken sandwich I bought yestersay and forgot to eat. :) :yum:

That was a joke. "Crusade" is basically just the Christian version of "Jihad", so if one is offensive and in poor taste, the other should be too.

Enjoy your sammich!

I sometimes don't get jokes with the lack of tone present(or missing even( in most online conversations based solely on text. For that I apologize....and YES, i'd most definately enjoy a sammich. As long as it's a tuna melt or turkey melt that is. :)

it is not professional looking web site, but they are not spammers. Aral markets/distributes/sells the games for years. I know Aral is here at least since Half-Life 1.

It is not a perfect company or without faults, but I still surprised they did something like that.
