CaptainGyro: I think I kinda agree with anjohl though. Having a deal on everything for 2 weeks sounds awesome and all, but really the avaerage savings of each game is like $3. Were people actually reluctant to pay $5.99 for a game they really wanted, but then $3.89 was just the right price?
and I am not complaing that the prices should be lower, it's still a good deal. Like anjohl, I am just not convinced that this vastlly superior to other dd christmas sales.

What more people want? all the catalogue priced at $0.99? free lunch? That doesn't exist. And it was just the first (and great) year of GOG, it takes time to the catalogue grow up.
But some publishers seem to lock all their games at the same price. Some Jagged Alliance games for $9.99, talking normal price... then, not much of a good price if you want all the series, already including the discount.
Overall, for me GOG is superior (not vastly because of a few $9.99 games, but other games like Psychonauts deserve that tag), you have the possibility of paying $3.xx for classic games that will entertain you for a long time, and backup it to a DVD or CD forever. About other DD sites, I think that their past weeks deals weren't thaaat good; their best offers on modern AAA games won't stand against steam.

So this is GOG's first storewide sale, I reckon?
$86 later, I have a bunch of games that I wanted. I am most excited to play Sanitarium, which I have eyed lustily since its release. Now I wait for the steam sale... :D

No, I didn't missed and I understand you. I am not "OMGNEEDTOGETNOWZ", as I said "for me GOG is superior (not vastly because". I just tried to say that other DD sites didn't appealed much for me; so for me remains two sites, gog and that one.

Sorry but I don't know that, there is people here for much longer time than me that can answer you better, and of course they can share their opinions too.
That in the post above was just my opinion, I think it's a good thing just with 1 year or so, already having the possibility to offer a storewide sale. That's it, it isn't OMGGGGGGZ!!1, but is a good thing.

Well I didn't see Fallout in the list but then it might be filtering things I own because I don't think I saw anything I already had.

JacobNZ: Can't buy until I see what my alternative gift is >_>

Second this. Where's my alternative gift, GoG!
COME ON MAN, DON'T HOLD OUT ON ME LIKE THIS!

I agree with you and Anjohl. Those are good deals and I appreciate the effort. I'm not complaining about the prices either, I don't really care anyway. To me, gog.com offers permanent good deals (paying 7 or 4 bucks barely make a difference). I was expecting something like a new publisher (it still might happen anyway) or some improvements for this austere forum.
But again, I appreciate the deals and I say thank you.

Yes, it seems to remove the titles that you already own from the listings.

It's 171 games, all except Myst, Riven, The Manhole and the free ones.
IIRC, yes Fallout is available for $3.89, each. Just browse gog without logging in and it will appear.

xa_chan: heh, i guess it's now time for me to kick ass and chew some bubblegum...

taczillabr: Hehe me too, I think I'll get it... But then the next game I'll need is Shadow Warrior: I like sword - that's a personal weapon.

OMG, Shadow Warrior on GOG would be an absolute INSTANT BUY !! I had so much fun back in the days!!

Over several games the savings add up. That's what makes this particular sale so good for a service like GOG. The games are priced quite low to begin with, so you simply can't see any kind of major savings when a sale is for just a couple of games. However, putting the entire catalog on sale allows all those small savings to add up if/when people decide to use the opportunity to clear out their wishlists. Since GOG has a very solid catalog overall as well (almost no games that could be considered shovelware, etc) people can really put these savings to use, as there are likely numerous games that people are interested in but haven't gotten around to buying yet (as this thread seems to be demonstrating). Basically this sale just works very nicely with the way that GOG is set up and offers some very nice savings once people start making bulk purchases. I'm guessing this was the intent as well: the folks at GOG probably recognized that people were building up sizable wishlists, and that a sale like this would prompt people to clear quite a few games off those lists. To which all I can say is: well played.
