As our catalog gets bigger and better every week, it’s easy to lose track of some of the awesome games that we have to offer. Of course Fallout, Baldur’s Gate, and some other of our most popular titles will always get a lot of attention, but GOG has many more classics to bring you. To help encourage you to explore the dustier reaches of GOG’s catalog, we’re going to be offering a promo on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Think of it as a curated promo on some of GOG’s favorite titles that you may not have played. Whether we’re encouraging you to explore incredible new worlds or inviting you to see how a titanic series got its start, we think every game we’re going to be offering on our GOG Gem Promos will be an excellent title, and we hope you give them all a try.

With the next GOG.com Gem Promo, we'd like to put a spotlight on one of the best hack-and-slash RPG Sacred Gold. In the game you are given the choice of one of eight character classes including Dark Elf, Gladiator, Vampire Lady among others. Each hero starts from a different location, has its own quests and skills, but they all have a common goal: to save the fantasy world of Ancaria from the evil necromancer Shaddar. The Gold edition includes all improvements added in Sacred Plus and the Sacred Underworld expansion, which added two new characters and new quests that follow the events at the end of the original Sacred. The game sold more than 1.8 million copies worldwide and we believe with the 60% discount it's going to boost this number significantly :)

So don't wait and grab Sacred Gold today for only $3.99! The promo ends tomorrow, May 19 at 5:59 a.m. EDT (9:59 a.m. GMT).

Darling_Jimmy: The JKCUTMD genre, I call it.
Quite adequate abbrevation, and yes - very Diablo-like, after all.
It's indeed one of the best H'n'S games out there, and for this price it's an absolute steal.
Yes, the main focus of the game is hacking at enemies until they fall (and collecting ever better loot, of course), but it has many side-quests to solve (if you're so inclined) and a nice touch of humour. Also, it's got a very large, seamless world with highly different areas with matching enemies.

Darling_Jimmy: Is this any good? It looks kind of... shallow and pedantic.

Thiev: Good, if you like the H&S genre.
this game is very good... for some people.

you see, as I'm suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder which makes me go through every single inch of the game map (no fog of war can ever stay after I'm done!) the open world of this game made it unfinishable for me (same with Divine Divinity, which is sad as it's much better than Sacred).

but it has everything such clickfest game should have - plenty of characters, plenty of skills, plenty of plenties of items to pick up (although the millions of statistics each item has make it kind of difficult to choose a better weapon, armor...), all that...

so, for healthy people, this is a must-buy

EDIT: sure, it's similar to diablo, but that is much better in my eyes, not only for the limited smaller maps ;), but also the atmosphere which I kind of lacked in Sacred (again, Divine Divinity has much better atmosphere, thanks to wonderful music as well)

I enjoyed it, a typical hack and slash. Huge world, took me ninety hours to finish (the game keeps up with your game time) Only real negative IMHO was the re-spawn which was a positive after I got used to it.

I loved the start screen and its sound track, I couldn't help but pause for a moment as it was mysterious in some way.

DD world is quite smaller than Sacred - don't give up on it, it's really worth playing :)

well, another problem is that I've played DD quite a lot, but I had kind of not that official copy... and when I bought it on GOG I've discovered that the saves aren't compatible with GOG version, so I'd have to start from the beginning, which I very much don't like ;)
Another perfectly good (old) game that I already own. Well worth it however if you don't already own it and like action RPGs.

Nice work on the picture :-).
Respawn rate can indeed be a positive or a negative; for me, it was the former from the beginning. Also, I like that the enemies keep up with your level (at least to a certain point).
I've only found its story to be lacking.

TheEnigmaticT: See? And I didn't even lie to you. ;)
You lied to me, TheEnigmaticT. You said I didn't already have this game, and within minutes of the Gem Promo starting, suddenly I did have it! I'm not sure I can ever trust you again afte... wait, what were we talking about?

Cool, Sacred Gold! :D
Great game i spent 100 hours playing this well woth the price.
Grab it while it's hot :-).

You're welcome, have fun!
How is multiplayer on this one? I'd like to try it coop with the wife.
First game I bought from gog, because I always wanted to try the "other" not-manager game from Ascaron.Because of the patrician and the Anstoss (on the ball) series Ascaron was always special to me.

I'm not a big RPG and H&S player, would call me still a novice to the genres, but I really enjoyed the game and so also wants to recommend it to all non-hardcore player. It's really a great game, easy to get into it.
