Well, the new year has passed--we hope you had a good one!--and now it's time to buckle down and start making 2012 awesome.

We're going to be doing our best, here at GOG.com, to make 2012 an even better year for fans of classic games and newer ones too then 2011 was. If you've been coming to our website very often at all, you probably know the three things that we do that make us different than the other digital distributors out there: we're completely DRM-free, we bundle in free extra goodies like soundtracks and wallpapers, and we charge the same price for all of our games anywhere in the world.

We're committed to keeping up with that philosophy in 2012, because it's what has made us a favorite gaming distributor for so many of you guys, and it's key to how we think anyone should sell games. Our GOG.com style of gaming distribution has definitely won us some attention last year, and we thought we'd show you a short round-up of some of the interviews that GOG.com conducted with news outlets across the 'Net in the last 12 months. Some of these talk about things that have already happened and are done, but some also talk about what GOG.com is planning to do in 2012 and beyond, so if you want to see if we're sticking to our guns when it comes to the GOG.com way, read on!

SLP2000: Speaking about PIPA (Destructoid interview) - aren't you guys advertising on Abandonwarez sites? Thus it will have an impact on you too.

Even a link "buy at gog.com" on abandonwarez site may be treated as an advertisement.
abandonia.com links to gog at all titles that can be purchased here, though I think that wasn't asked for by gog. They have a "Buy It" link that leads to gog. In fact, via abandonia was the way, I encountered gog (it was a newspost in the early gog days).

Roman5: I see, well thanks for the newspost anyway GOG

Here's hoping you can get Bethesda on Board and get The Elder Scrolls series as well as ID Software in 2012
avatar
GameRager: The older Elder Scrolls games(I think) are freeware and easy to dosbox, and the newer ones still sell in stores. Why add them? I'd much rather they went after ID and LucasArts, tbh.
Just because they're free, doesn't mean they don't belong here.

True, but hosting them would cost GOG money. Would you be willing to put up the cost of hosting them?
I have a feeling 2012 is going to be the best GOG year ever!

Roman5: Bethesda owns ID

If GOG can get Bethesda - they will get ID
Zenimax owns ID, not beth. If they managed to get zenimax to allow them to sell older elder scrolls games, they won't necessarily manage to get them to sell ID games, just like how not every EA owned game is here.

GOG hosts six free games already, and look at Ultima 4, they got that here twice. I don't think they care, they know they belong here ;)

Do you have feeling or 'feeling'?

Glad to read these, rereading in a few cases. The checkout security interview is probably relevant for everyone here, especially with the 2011 Holiday Sale just behind us. Personally, I agree that the GOG.com checkout process is excellent as is. GOG.com's is the only place I know where all the information I need to submit is on one line. Every other digital retailer needs your full address and everything. Makes me wonder why.

The only thing I say might be improved about the process is Gift Checkouts. In rapid succession, I gave all my friends the Commandos 2 + 3 pack for Christmas. I kind of wish there was a way to streamline that. Perhaps when placing a gift order, the option to group items by recipient so you can order a few copies of a game or games and send one to each one of so many people or a field along with each item to send individual codes to separate e-mail addresses within the same order.

Just read in the Polish gaming magazine CD-Action that this year GOG is gonna be the exclusive distributor of some big new game. I'm quite curious what's it gonna be.

Yes, we noticed you didn't release a new game today.

Probably any new game from CD Projekt will be released on GOG.com from now on.

This. And Bethesda would be great here with or without the free games.
