Possibly get into non DRM games in a different section as well with their new client, like a Gamers Gate service. If they are doing this for profit, and they are a business after all, I think we maybe supprised when we find out. As for mobile games that is a very profitable market.

No doubt it will be a radical change.

Opps, I meant possibly games with some DRM, only a guess though possibly like Matrix games with a serial after-all some GoG games need a serial for online play now.

Difference being you can run singleplayer without needing the serial . Many people class even a serial requirement as DRM - although id much prefer it didn't happen, i *could* live with a serial key requirement as long as that was *all* that was needed (like the old days when a serial was all that was needed to install or run a game..nothing else).
Having said that, wouldn't that be telling publishers it was ok to do that and imply moving away from drm free ?.
And its interesting in Matrix games case... ive seen on some of there forum threads where the mods have mentioned drm free, then later i hear about same game a serial is needed.

Perhaps they signed Microsoft and got the entire GFWL catalogue and made them drm-free :D that be great news.

What ever happened to the big news they were hinting at back in 2013? (perhaps the deal they was working on got pushed back yet again)

Petrell: Fix'd ;-p While I support adding Linux games even as Windows user, I don't really see any direct benefit to rest of us other than stopping Linux users from nagging about it ;-). It won't even help bring more games to GOG. And I doubt the technologigal change they're talking about is competitor to Steambox :-p
Even though it makes me shy, as a primary Windows user, I'd tend to agree. GOG promised some big changes though, and that will keep me wondering till it's unveiling. :)

I have no clue on the new platform, but I am 100% sure the big companies want a platform they can control everything on, including continual spying on its customers.

Not sure if this article is updated, but from that list, capcom hates its fans big time!

It is called the Xbox One; MS is pulling out of the PC game biz altogether, the Windows 8 store is really just for mobile app stuff and is mostly directed at the Windows RT tablet market.

Activation keys are a form of DRM, while serial keys are just a very soft form of copyprotection that may at most require that in a same multiplayer instance everyone needs to have a different key. The most important difference is that the activation keys can be remotely blacklisted just by updating the verifying server while the serial keys can only stop working if a patch is made to disable known leaked keys and the users choose to install it.
