This is a good thread, as it will hopefully help GOG see that there are some games that do not play well (or at all) on people's PCs. It would be good as they grow to appoint a person to make sure games run on a variety of systems before hit the virtual shelves.

Messiah - Completely FUBAR. I don't know what went wrong here but apparently it's the same on Vista. Just one of those few games that doesn't do GOG's reputation any favours by remaining unfixed / on sale.
Gothic 2 - The combat is so incredibly bad I thought I was doing something wrong. But no, it's the game that's doing something wrong. Very wrong. The controls are generally just crap too. Given that this is an earlier effort of the makers of Risen I suppose I have no right to be surprised by this. They were kicked off the Gothic license for a reason after all.
Blood 2 - Very unstable and buggy. Again I shouldn't have been surprised by this and went into the game expecting a lesser game than the prequel. But even if it was bug-free it wouldn't have been a patch on the first game. The very uneven difficultly doesn't help its appearance of being unfinished either.

IL-2 Sturmovik™: 1946 - Bought it in a promo but realised that I've a hard time getting into realistic flight sims... I'll give it another try some day.
Gothic 2 : Actually like it, but I blame the game for begin too hard and relying more on character optimal builds than anything else, and that some types of characters are just not playable at all.

Steam sale landed me with GRiD right after buying Race Driver 3 here. It's a good game, but GRiD outshines it more than just graphically.

Short answer is - No regrets. My only problem worth noting was with Divine Divinity. It was unplayable when released but fixed with a patched version several weeks later . . no problems with it after that.
My dissatisfaction with gaming in general has dropped to near zero. I know most games purchased here were released before my hardware / OS existed and will take some tweaking to get them to run. I do read the GOG user reviews and spend some time in the game forums prior to making a purchase. I don't buy games that have game play or install issues that I find unacceptable.
I used to purchase new releases for $40 to $100 each. Many would not run or were poorly designed or were just plain garbage . . . that kept my regret level up around 90%. Now I get several games for the same money so . . . even if I get a loser . . . I don't get upset. Also, not having to remove rootkits, DRM files / services or null registry entries after an install / uninstall . . . priceless. . . =)

Not really, most games I actually played, I liked, and those few that I initially did not like actually grew on me. My only remorse is for all those games I haven't played at all yet :)

Robinson's Requiem for me. Loved the idea but the pixellated graphics made everything a confusing mess, and it is very easy to get stuck in the terrain. I have yet to try the sequel though which came with the original , so that may be it's saving grace.

Pretty sure you can play kabuto in first person, can't you? Though the game is probably set up to work better in 3rd person. I think I played a lot of it in 1st person, but that was a long time ago...
(and I loved the humour and loved almost all of the game, so i'm obviously on a different wavelength. )
Not regretted any purchases, but I've been more careful than many, buying only ones I KNOW i'll like, or real classics. It can be easy to put on the ole rose-tinted spectacles and then discover that the game hasn't aged well, or that old graphics and controls aren't as easy to adapt to as you expected.. so make sure you don't set your expectations too high.
I do regret that i don't have a decent Joystick to play i76, Freespace and several other flight sim games that I want to buy.
Oh, actually, I rather regretted Fallout. Got bored of it very quickly and discovered that all the talk of it having great writing was wrong. Not terrible though... maybe i'll go back to it.

After talking with GOG support, I no longer have remorse over Redemption. My problem is resolved. That was fast, ty GOG!

Yes, guys who have problems with the games should contact support. My personal experience with GOG support has been awesome.
If you just post your problem on the forums, there is a chance they may not see it.

Don't know where you got your info. As a fan of the Gothic franchise (except the third instalment, that was just wrong), I played Risen with a critical eye and got off mostly happy. Just try the demo, see if you like it, and then try to get a used copy or a cheap one somewhere. But yes, it did get most of it's inspiration from G1, so that's that.
As for the topic, I buy very carefully, so I have no regrets. I did buy some games I didn't play yet, but should get to them before too long.

Nope, Never, even if I don't like the game or end-up never playing it knowing that with my purchase I helped (if only just a little) promote DRM-free games it was well worth it.
