You have presented some alternatives, mainly ebay. So whats the problem?

If you don't want it, don't buy it!

Snickersnack: Of all the $9.99 games to complain about on this site and you pick Deus Ex and Thief Gold! XD

Please show me where you can get a hard copy of Thief Gold for $6. I'd been trying off an on for a couple of years and ~$30 is about the best I could do.

SimonG: You can get all three thief titles bundled on Amazon for 10€. It's an UK import, so I guess you get them there cheaper.
Interesting. Is Thief 1 the Gold release on that compilation? It's been absent from the compilations I've seen in the past.

It says so on the cover . Buying Thief Gold alone however, will put you back almost five times that amount ;-).

It's all a moot point for me anyway, as I have all three thieves, and I want em on GOG for "backup reasons".

DOES NOT COMPUTE. INITIATE SELF-DESTRUCT SEQUENCE.

twaitsfan: Deus Ex and Thief are spectacular games. Perhaps in the top 10 of all time. But $10? Really? They're 15 years old and I can ebay them for $6. Weren't games 4.99 max at one time? Actually I remember Planescape:Torment being 8.99 I think.
Buy 2 or more games in February and get the 10% discount, making it $9 each ;)

I really don't get why people hit the negative button in his post. The post brought up a little discussion, so it's positive.

I upvoted it, I do think he had a legitimate question there that has been answered.

Although, he does need to remember that GoG is still a business and not a charity. They have to make compromises and work with the publishers if they want their games on here. The idea of DRM-free = profit is still a radical concept for publishers.

Agreed.

The higher price makes up for when negotiating when publishers, still the debate is valid. A few games are overpriced. A few could sell a bigger quantiy at the release day if outright released for $5.99.

And then there's the whole selling new games. I think in that press release there was multiple instances of 'growing the business'. For those lucky enough not to speak Corporate, that means selling your soul and doing whatever it takes to make money. I've worked for 7 software companies, now all soulless. I shiver when I hear those words.

Gog, I believe in you. Don't step on the ladybug of remaining faith that crawls in my heart.
Well your not just paying for a game. You are also paying for the GOG experience and the option to download the game you purchased from them whenever you feel like it. That is how I look at it.

Here? Nope.

At least in the whole time that Planescape: Torment has been sold here, the only two prices have been $9.99 and $5.99.

Boom: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thief-Complete-Collection-PC-DVD/dp/B002LVUKIS

I have the Deus Ex and Hitman collections from that series and AFAIK it's just a disc check at the most.

SimonG: Well, Eidos does sell Deus ex cheaper at their DD store.. Thief is slightly more expensive though

Btw, that page is a good indicator for things to come here on GOG.
£5.99 = 9.4$

I wouldn't call it cheaper. 0,5$ difference is matter of exchange rates ;).

macuahuitlgog: You are also paying for the GOG experience
Is that anything like the Rimmer Experience?
Thief is actually overpriced, since you can get the complete Thief colletion (which does include Thief GOLD) for 10 dollars easily, but Deus Ex has the same price points as other digital stores.
I think in fact the retail price of Deus Ex is $9.99 everywhere........

Neobr10: (which does include Thief GOLD...)
Though that version hasn't received the blessing of the merry monks on the altar of St. GOG-in-Polska.
