Deus Ex and Thief are spectacular games. Perhaps in the top 10 of all time. But $10? Really? They're 15 years old and I can ebay them for $6. Weren't games 4.99 max at one time? Actually I remember Planescape:Torment being 8.99 I think.

And then there's the whole selling new games. I think in that press release there was multiple instances of 'growing the business'. For those lucky enough not to speak Corporate, that means selling your soul and doing whatever it takes to make money. I've worked for 7 software companies, now all soulless. I shiver when I hear those words.

In the case of the Square Enix games, GOG did not set the pricing. Squeenix did. This is also true of Ubisoft games.

Square Enix would not let them sell games cheaper than they sell on other sites. Both Deus Ex and Thief are 9.99 Euro on steam.

Nominal price says nothing. It all comes down to SquareEnix promo policy.

memory is funny thing.

PST was always 9.99 bucks and was on sale once or twice. games never were 4.99 max. that is maybe with discount.

since day one games were either 5.99 (interplay catalogue) and 9.99 many many others.

Well, Eidos does sell Deus ex cheaper at their DD store.. Thief is slightly more expensive though

Btw, that page is a good indicator for things to come here on GOG.

GOG wants their games to be the cheapest possible. Blame the publishers' insistence on the $9.99 tag.

Sadly for British gamers, Deus Ex can be found cheaper than $9.99 on Steam and other direct download sites, but this is partly due to exchange rates.

Currently GetGames has a Square Enix sales going on, every thing is 75% off. If you are interested and do not mind DRM, I guess you will be interested/

Of all the $9.99 games to complain about on this site and you pick Deus Ex and Thief Gold! XD

Please show me where you can get a hard copy of Thief Gold for $6. I'd been trying off an on for a couple of years and ~$30 is about the best I could do.

You can get all three thief titles bundled on Amazon for 10€. It's an UK import, so I guess you get them there cheaper.

It's up to the publisher, not GOG.COM

there are many other overpriced games here on GOG, Ubisoft is the biggest culprit
