This is indeed quite odd. According to the thread that SirPrimalform linked, the dev sent the request to GOG only last month. It would be very odd for GOG to reject a game on the basis that it's Indie (i.e. not classic), while releasing Indies (and other modern titles) at the same time. Also, Unepic has (to my knowledge) never been DRM-free so far, so releasing it DRM-free on GOG could have been a coup, and the author sounds like he was willing to remove the DRM (he's actually saying that a DRM-free version will be released later).

Very odd indeed. Some clarification from GOG would be welcome, until then I'll try to not jump to conclusions in either direction. ;)

Xenonauts, Unepic... now I'm waiting for the "GOG rejected System Shock 2" thread.

We'll probably see that on the same day that George Lucas complains in his blog that GOG won't release anything from his games company. ;)

I really hope it's an old quote, because Unepic fits perfect in GOGs catalog. Like Legend of Grimrock it has retro charm. One possible reason would the that at some point the humour gets flat and filthy, but that's really not so excessive (especially in comparison to something like Postal). Also the graphic really tiny, playing it fullscreen and stretched is recommended. Maybe they should give it a second try (demo) or give him more feedback what's exactly not fit. The game has absolutely the potential to get an indie classic.

If he wants to remove the drm I would be very happy. I bought the game before knowing about the online activation and heard only weeks later about it. I played and finished the demo first and forgot to check the system specs on the buy-page.

Edit: Btw, I don't believe Xenonauts isn't also from the table, GOG only thinks that with 25$ the price is too high at the moment. If the developers will drop the price, I'm sure GOG will check it again.

I never heard of this game until i saw this thread. It looks pretty fun, I too do not understand while they rejected it. I hope they reconsider.

I told you (in the thread you where you said about emails to indie devs you sent) that GOG will be very picky about Indie games.

From what I know GOG is talking with the gyus from Instant Kingdoms (Driftmoon) and devs of Stasis.

I know unEpic might not be that shiny and all, but for me this is a perfect example of a game that looks old, but when you play it you actually see A LOT of great modern gameplay elements, the graphics effects are very nice, it has got humor and many different ways to play...

I've read that Steam also rejected it some time ago and was quite sad about it (I don't like steam but they do sell). but I would never imagine GOG would reject it too, the game really IS good (so much better than Treasure Adventure Game which appeared here).

I'd understand if they told him "not now", but "not ever"...

But then they'd have to release more often. That guy who inserts funny typos into announcements could be be overworked.
