Apparently the reason they gave was that they are focussed on classic games, which is weird since it was submitted some time in April (after GOG had started releasing indie games).

Huh, I'd never heard of this game but it looks quite interesting. Gives off a Castlevania vibe. Hopefully GOG reconsiders.
I wish they would adopt some sort of consistent stance on things.
This game looks cool. I might buy it in the future if I hear good things about it.

:( Unepic is an awesome game, can't understand why they turned them down. One of the best Indie RPGs ever made.

The graphics do look kinda small on the trailer... but this game can easily be on GOG for sure. I expect they will reconsider if there is more demand for the game.
Maybe you should give TET a PM about it?
seems crazy. if steam doesn't sell it (and i understand it doesn't), then it would seem like the perfect game for gog.

unless it is a lot worse than it looks...

I\ve just noticed the pricing... 9.5 euro... maybe the issue is there... dunno a blue one should answer this for sure
"Gog already rejected the game.
They explained me that they are focused in classic games like baldurs gate, and they don't think that unepic should fit in their shop."

wat.

Yes I agree. I assume GOG is probably frustrated that when they realease new indie games people say "NO Classic games only!" and when they refuse so they can focus on classics games then people say "NO evil GOG why not have this indie game"

There will always be difference of opinion, and GOG is still in a period of transformation but I do think a more consistent policy is needed, otherwise GOG will start losing its credibility.

I don't usually do this, but I will call him a liar.

Not because GOG wouldn't reject his game. Simply because they're not that stupid. My guess is that they approached GOG a while ago, and are using an old quote.

Come on guys. We know TheEnigmaticT, he is at least above average IQ. Furthermore, they're referencing games they released a year ago. Why mention Baldurs gate when you've just released Syndicate?

All strikes me as a very malicious piece of press grabbing.

You got a good point there...

I think that they botched the transition and a lot of people got angry about that. They really should have opened up a sister site to handle the indie gams and new games. It at least wouldn't have annoyed those of us that were concerned with the retro games getting buried underneath the newer games.
Da fuq? ~12.25 dollars is funky pricing, but the new games don't really have a set number anyway. (Maybe they could bump it down to 10, or move it up to 15, but that's not really the point...) I say, the peeps in charge should see if the quality is worth GOG, then if it is, sell it and let people decide if they want it or not. :P They're letting go of their niche, might as well let people have the option of buying it here!

Include the soundtrack, too. Do it.

Sooo ... da fuq.

EDIT: Hey, why not ... hear me out ... why not release a classic game AND a new game on the same day, so people aren't so worried about the transition? I suppose it might take a fair amount of time to get just one game ready to go, but ... still ...

No idea about this case, but I'd assume that even after signing indies GOG will still have some kind of objective and subjective criteria of what fits their catalogue and what not, not just the price. I recently learned they turned down "The Journey Down - Chapter 1", because of its episodic nature, for example.

I guess they'll also try to keep a certain standard and only choose very popular and high quality indie games, the ones you can already identify as future classics and the ones that have strong roots in the past. Not saying that UnEpic doesn't fit this definition, but maybe it's not known enough yet, or - who knows - maybe the GOG staff just didn't like it? ;)

The good news in all that is that apparantly there's an interest among indie devs to get their games DRM-free on GOG.
