We know you're busy people, but would you like to contribute to an even better GOG? How about taking 5 minutes of your time to make the GOG experience an outstanding one?

Our main goal when designing GOG.com was to create the best user experience in digital distribution ever. Many say we're doing it right, but we want to get even better, that's why we're launching a survey that will help us lead GOG in the way you'd like it to go. Taking part in it isn't required of course, but if you want to have your share in making GOG the best digital distribution service there is (or at least even better than it is right now) and maybe win a free game, devote few minutes of your time to answer couple questions we've prepared. From all users who will take part in the survey, we'll randomly choose 20 who will receive a free GOG game of their choice. Grab a pencil... er, a keyboards in your hands and answer the below questions for a better future for all of us :)

The survey ends on Thursday, October 27 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
Hope you guys can learn something from it.

Smannesman: Oh <insert deity of choice> my eyes!
I'm using Chrome and for some reason the survey would scroll to the comments and back in less then a second every five seconds.
If I were an epileptic I'd probably be on the floor by now.
Stop twitching your finger on the scroll wheel!
(no problems on chrome here)

bazilisek: I was a bit conflicted about the very last question. I'm all for day one GOG-style releases, but I'd prefer having those on a sister site rather than here. So I chose No.

saramakos: I am with you on that one... I would love to see GOG.com and GNG.com (or something less tacky)!
Why do people want to see it separate? I don't get it. And what would they do when a `new' game becomes an `old' game? It seems an unnecessary hassle to split this up. I don't see what the gain would be.
I would use optional GOG.com client that lets me

forgive my ignorance but what do you mean by Client?

Ralackk: Yea I hope we are not the only ones. There normally seems to be some contention about the name gog.com adopted and the fact some people only want older games.

Yes! A sister site would indeed be great for that purpose! They would be bridged so that in due time the games would drip to the other side/site.

I think they mean the likes of Steam.

I too answered no to the day-1 releases because it's all about the good old games, but I still really much appreciate sister site type releases, that's a given. :)

Maybe you could have some sort of independent game release type of deal, from all times of gaming.

Not only a client, but the whole distribution platform, but much better than Steam, at least if they keep it clean and DRM free. I love good old gaming!

Yeah, with the number of games requiring steam and it's console-style restrictive client, the more services offering no DRM or sensible DRM the better, so I went yes, but like you I would rather see them on a separate section of the site or separate site as the publishers would want advertising which is likely to clash with GoG's current style of individually presenting and describing games one at a time without making silly claims or splashing distracting animated adverts everywhere.

Let's put it this way: I think of this site as a specialised store, and don't want to see it become yet another supermarket. Because there is no other specialised store around half as good as this one, while supermarkets, ranging from decent to very good, are all over the place.
I have suggested they do a propper survey, but hey, lets get the ball rolling so to speak.

1/ Did you own an AMIGA A500?

2/ would you like to see old AMIGA games here?

3/ would you buy them?

Wiggy
I like the idea of getting DRM-free games so much that I'd probably buy somewhat more games if I could get them here, even new. On the other hand, GOG = Good Old Games and I'm not sure I want new games here. I mean, I wouldn't mind... But it kinda contradicts the basic idea. Someone mentioned a sister site and I agree. I would probably use it. Or maybe extend GOG so that Good Old Games is only a part of the larger site.

Anyway, I'm not terribly fond of buying $50 games (and much less 50€ games) and I can't really afford to buy many of them so it won't make a huge difference... But other new games, sure, why not, as long as I can afford them. I like my games DRM-free, and that pretty much means no mandatory client as well. That's why I hate Steam: I'd probably love it if it were optional but it is not. Also one of the major reasons why I still haven't bough some games I really want: Total War: Shogun 2, Civilization V, Deus Ex: Human Revolution... Especially the new Deus Ex is already so cheap that if it didn't require me to use Steam, I'd already have bought it.

So is the question refering to a GOG "steam like" program...

Deviltown: I have to admit, for the amount of data you are collecting, I find giving "only" 20 people a free game a bit stingy. This is marketing and nothing else so I would have expected a free game for everyone to be quite honest, Didn't participate.
Thank you for not taking the survey and increasing my chances at winning. Oh, and your "I want a free game for 2 minutes of my time" is your choice, but don't you understand that the data will be used to make the service better? That doesn't seem worth it to you?

Good grief.

What functionality would it have?

I think we can take it as a given that it's not going to claw it's way into games like steam and very few, if any, games on GoG are likely to get patches so what would it offer apart from a game downloads (which are already in a single place on the website anyway)?
Done, and really hope it helps. I was kinda conflicted about last question, until I realised that us Europeans always get the equation 1 Euro = 1 Dollar on Steam and (at least where I live) retail is even worse

Everyone gets 6 of them free :P
