First off I want to say hello. I'm new, I just found out about this site and I still can't stop shaking (The Witcher Enhanced and Directors Cut Edition+manual+wallpapers+game guide+maps+music+soundtrack+avatars+artbook+calendar+story for 9.99$!!!!!WHAT!?!?!). I also want to really praise and thank the site for it's slick design, tho a spell check in the forum would be nice, since english is not my native language, and for giving me 4 games for free (I love free).
Second. Since I don't really know much about GOG (I'm working on it, don't ban me) I would like to hear one feature that you guys think is the best one, and maybe why did you choose GOG instead of Steam.
So yeah, I'm really looking forword to this. A site where I can instantly get a game for a good price with goodies, I'm in.

Simple, no online requirement whatsoever after the installer is downloaded. If you archive your downloads, it doesn't matter if GOG goes under, you can still install and play your games.

(Well, it does matter because an awesome source of good cheap games would be gone, but not for the purpose mentioned above.)

Though you can log in and redownload if you want, there's no activation, as Miaghstir said, so if you have a DVD backup it should work years and years from now, even if GOG is no longer around.

I almost cried...
That is just insane. I have NEVER in my life witnesed such a price drop for a game that is not even that old!!!
Steam and GOG are different, GOG is focused on classics and Steam is focused on new games (also they have some famous classics like Doom or Deus Ex).
When we are talking about games that appear on both platforms GOG is much better because they doesn´t have any kind of DRM protection, they´re you copies, you can make all the installations you like and no internet connection is required (except, obviously for the download), you support a fair model of business that thrust users and don´t treat them as potential pirates. Also most of GOG editions of the games are Collector´s Edition-like versions with original music, artwork and stuff like that.

Promos. It seems that all games - with the exception of Interplay :-( - sooner or later will be in some kind of promo (weekend, flash, christmas). So build yourself a wishlist, be patient and you will be able to purchase all games you want for 30-50% below nominal price.

Why restrict yourself to one? Here's a (slightly fanboyish, I admit it) list of differences between GOG and Steam (apart from the games available):

1. Steam has a mandatory client that you have to run and log into in order to play your games (yes, I know about offline mode). GOG does not.

2. All of GOG's games are DRM free. This means that you can install them on any machine you want (as long as it's your machine, although nothing is stopping you from installing them on any machine at all), even without an internet connection. There are no limited activations, no disc checks, no hidden drivers, nothing.

3. All of GOG's games are available worldwide. There are no regional restrictions. The same cannot be said of Steam.

4. All of GOG's games cost the same worldwide. The same can definitely not be said of Steam.

5. Most of GOG's games come with various extras, such as wallpapers, forum avatars, soundtracks, etc.
I'm a patriot.
Steam can take your games away, GOG can't. Simple reason to choose GOG when available, really.
Just simple really, DRM Free, and pretty much any game can give you more than 12 hours gameplay thats why im here, I hate being shafted with ports being released on pc and games that last less than 5 hours for single player.

Also it benefits me because if i got a old game from say amazon i would need to search for patches wait for 20 minutes to download all of them and then 15 minutes patching then it would prolly ask for a CD so i would need to crack it... After that it would prolly pop up a message saying "You haz windows vista we no liek so ima not werking 4 yew" After i spent 8 hours looking for a fix i start up the game it then says "lolz your vista is 64 bit we no werk 4 u nao" -_-

But GOG does this for me :D And the installation is just click on .exe accept agreement and install... 5 minutes launch game and your good to go, Also because of the DRM free fact i can install it on my dads PC too so we can lan! (and that is very very rare :/ )

I buy games for the hell of it coz there so cheap on here, If i like the look of it i buy it and they all turn out to be good games tbh, I buy games i already own for ease of installation to and support this site <3

Also the forums are not a troll fest like 9/10 sites :D

This post is long for me :o
