I came to Gog to poke fun at n00bs....wait, no......I came to Gog to enjoy games at cheap prices and talk with fellow gamers about games and stuff.
No bloody invasion into how i play my games. I can play GOGs on a deserted island [if there are laptops that run on sun or coconuts]. Why not Steam? Well, the equal price policy.
What else? Well, the people, gotta love that, You'll see.;)

What Rondel said, despite GOG being part of CDP, being in cahoots with Optimus, being responsible for that troll/propaganda site called Onet.

Oh, and GOG likes prog rock. Don't even want to know what Steam would like. Hurr durr.

TheEvilAlex: tho a spell check in the forum would be nice, since english is not my native language,

Immoli: Get Mozilla Firefox. It has a spell check that works for all websites.
Get Opera. It has a spell check. Clean, lightweight browser. Plus it has more street cred. And it's from Norway; the happiest, most secular nation on earth.

They can't play tennis, but that's what their neighbors the Swedes are for.

Elevator music perhaps?
I came for Fallout, and stayed because of the fact GOG is selling the best game packages currently available, even if the games aren't recent. And I also stayed for the community, which I happen to like quite a lot.

Yep, the whole community. Even anjohl.
Oh, and I echo all the sentiments here railing against godless DRM digital distribution sites. We also have to support those brave Poles against the Steam Chancellor Otto Von Bismarck.

TheEvilAlex:
First off, welcome to the GOG community.

I didn't choose GOG over Steam, I still use Steam for some of the games that GOG doesn't have and I don't see GOG/Steam as being mutually exclusive. That being said, if a game is offered on both systems, I take the GOG version for the lack of DRM. I also am more drawn to the games GOG offers as I had many of the classic PC games from years past. I play console games now, so if a game is offered on a console vs the PC I'll get the console version which rules out a large part of the Steam catalog.
What I like most on this site is the feeling that the GOG staffs respects their customers. Look at a few of the threats that cover topics like piracy or even torrents of GOG games. Other sites would have gone real nasty on some users, but the GOG staff kept their cool. I find their approch to piracy very good and from what I can see in their numbers, it is working.

They don't treat their customers like potential thieves, but as customers.

Oh and hello to the new GOGer. :) Everyone else seems to have covered the relevant points so I'll just give a friendly hello.

TheEvilAlex: First off I want to say hello. I'm new, I just found out about this site and I still can't stop shaking (The Witcher Enhanced and Directors Cut Edition+manual+wallpapers+game guide+maps+music+soundtrack+avatars+artbook+calendar+story for 9.99$!!!!!WHAT!?!?!). I also want to really praise and thank the site for it's slick design, tho a spell check in the forum would be nice, since english is not my native language, and for giving me 4 games for free (I love free).
Second. Since I don't really know much about GOG (I'm working on it, don't ban me) I would like to hear one feature that you guys think is the best one, and maybe why did you choose GOG instead of Steam.
So yeah, I'm really looking forword to this. A site where I can instantly get a game for a good price with goodies, I'm in.
The price points, the forums, the GOOD old games, no DRM, promos, and excellent extras, enough said.

Although on the minus side you'll have to get used to their annoying business practices (they're based in Poland which may have a bit to do with it, IDK) and you'll have to deal with mediocore tech support at the moment, I'm not sure if GoG plans to get better at this department in the near future but most of the time you'll have to find solutions to your problem in the forums or ask for help from other users, since tech support can take a long time to get a response (if you get one at all).

Oh, and welcome to GoG from the USA!
