Simple. Don't buy. I have also the same issues with Football Manager... Every year a new game priced at 60 euros. FU Sega.

And if only to add insult to injury, they started enforcing Steam use to prevent people selling the older used copies of FM.

I recently picked up a used copy of FM2009, and the key just so happened to be unused on Steam, but there's no fucking way I will pay 60 euros for a game that becomes 'obsolete' in a year and cannot be resold.

Yupp... I hope nobody buys their games anymore so that they put a stop to these practices. A fair deal would've been to give a 75% discount to previous owners of FM. Since the new versions usually are not THAT different.

Have they even made anything of substance in the last few years? (COD aside)

They used to have a knack of creating surprisingly decent movie adaptations (their James Bond games were almost all pretty good, barring 007 Legends), as were Beenox's Spiderman games.

Other than that, no. I think CoD and Skylanders is what they make most of their money off. The only other noteworthy games from the past three years have been Deadpool, Prototype 2, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and Transformers Prime (the latter being Nintendo-exclusive).

I remember really really liking the first 2 WWII games, haven't touched any of the modern setting ones.

They were on sale this past weekend and I considered it. I searched a little trying to find opinions about the single player. A lot of folks mentioned the first 2 like you, in particular the 2nd one. The 4th one got a lot of praise too, and one of the Black Ops versions.

I remember a year or so ago (one Christmas or another) they had an Activision rep at an electronics store in Hamburg peddling Skylanders. They were encouraging kids as young as 7-8 to play on the Xboxes before suddenly having their session pulled and being actively told to tell their parents that they wanted these 'packs' for Christmas.

I told the cunt exactly what I thought of his tactics, and ended up being escorted out by a security guard.

I don't blame Activision for making derivative crap. It's cheap to make (reused animations and assets and whatnot that's been demonstrated by COD enthusiasts). And they make a huge pile of money from it.

A lot of people like to play COD. I don't know why. I've never liked that sort of game ("Half-Life multiplayer" style is what I call it -- live short, die short). I'm more a Rainbow Six or Battlefield sort of guy. I like a little slower pace and a lot more tactics. Nonetheless, COD is making a ton more money than probably R6 and B3+4 combined per derivation.

So they can go on making what I call garbage. I won't buy it, but at least those who call it "treasure" can enjoy it.

What price was it for you there?

Here it was still $60, down from its normal price of $90 (obviously I wasn't going to pick it up for either price). I can literally buy Watch Dogs, an upcoming AAA release, for the same price I could buy MW2 on special four and a half years after its release.
