I was kind of interested in the game until I saw this. It looks like a fan-made modification to Unreal Tournament 3. I would never pay $50 for this, nor would I pay a subscription fee.
Meh, it looks quite nice (think MMO/TF2/Section 8) solely on gameplay. You're right, I wouldn't pay a fee for this. But then I'll wait and see, a few friends of mine want to buy it.
It's built on the unreal engine so it is something to be expected. It's one of the problems with using an existing engine is that it'll look like other things which are already using them.
It's also not bad for the fact that you can still play the game without the mmo monthly fee and territorial grab.

But then there's the part where you shoot straight at a person, expecting to hit them, and you may or may not hit them. The first shot of a gun, if lined up correctly, should always hit.

That depends on how much work is put into the design of the game. Mirror's Edge was built using the Unreal engine.

I didn't even know there was a subscription for this! I thought $50 was already too high for what I had seen about this game but charging $12 on top of that is daylight robbery! A few stats and a few online aspects and they think they're an MMO these days. Ah well, I can predict this game won't last long if that's the way they'll play.

You're thinking strictly fps, not including mmo mechanics.
Which the reviewers were also doing. . . . So many parts in that review made me facepalm as they didn't seem to know how things worked.
A lower grade weapon is inferior to a better, stronger weapon to be unlocked. Otherwise what's the point of equipment progression? You want to upgrade to increase the range, to reduce falloff, to increase criticals, etc. If the first weapons were just as effective as the best, why bother?

Seriously? Then that's the best-looking Unreal Engine game ever.

You don't HAVE to pay a monthly fee. Out of the box you get pvp and a set of progression to follow. By paying a monthly fee you unlock a more in depth leveling system, territory grab with guilds, development of weapons rather than unlocking them, etc.

Yup.

Yeah I realise that but $12 is still a ridiculous amount to ask for that. PvP will be unbalanced towards subscribers I bet, too, making it pointless to play in free mode. I fear this may well head down the same road as Hellgate: London and we all know how that ended.

Heh if only someone had told lucasarts about that when they were making dark forces and its sequels, that stormtrooper blaster rifle sucked until you got the magic accuracy force power

Borderlands uses Unreal Engine 3 as well.
It took me a while to figure that out.
Well I'm not surprised. When I saw some of the teasers and vids earlier on, it basically summarised my sentiments towards the game: a MMO team based third person shooter. With all respect to those who are hyped for the game, I didn't quite buy into it. Maybe I didn't catch up with all of the game's latest news (more interested in seeing how All Points Bulletin turns out), but I didn't see how a run-n-gun shooter could ever be classified as a spy-themed MMOG. In fact, I'm still not quite sure where all the hype is coming from - again, as I said, I don't have full knowledge of the game's complete features, but the game's vids so far just haven't impressed me.
