Tantrix: ...

He might be able to trace your IP address, but only to the extent of knowing who your ISP is. He won't be able to narrow it down any further than that and I find it doubtful that your ISP would release any records to him. So don't worry about that.

bansama: Yes, without prosecutor there is no change to get your adress or any detail. But you should ask a mod from the forum, maybe you feel better than. I don't believe they gave your IP.
Edit: Btw, are any of your posts removed from the mods? If they are not legal of any kind, they normally must remove them.

Jochen was in close PM contact with one of the mods(oggy), so I am not sure how far that goes for asking IP.
I already asked them to delete my account, after I was posting for the first time on the german board. They didn't do shit, but it's good to know he was banned there.
I will cool down for now, take a shower, make some more playthroughs, maybe write alittle for my thesis. Man, I wish I were like some of you, more level headed 8(....

bansama: Seriously, I doubt there is anything he can sue you over. But if you're that worried, don't do anything out anger. Simply seek some legal advice from a law firm/solicitors, citizens advice bureau or whatever similar institutions you have in Germany.
avatar
Tantrix: I am not worried about myself but rather about my family. He says he'll "trace my IP". Well maybe he found my address for whatever reason, but what if he sues someone with the wrong name?
I see a yellow letter from the German Regional Council of my brother, and I see a huge DinA4 letter from a attorney's office directed to my Stepmother.
What if one of them is about the complaint?
I don't want them to get involved in this sick game! And the way Jochen threatens me already reached the boarder of malicious trolling.

I think you give him way too much credit. He can't get anything more than your IP address, and there's no way your ISP will give him anything else. Turn off your router/modem/computer for an hour and get a new IP address.
I've requested a refund, of course he (or whoever Jennifer Kolbe is) doesn't want to give it. An old college buddy's a lawyer, so if necessary I'll talk to him about a class action lawsuit. I hate to go that route over such a piddly amount, but this guy's a dirtbag.

Narushima: Do you all live in fiction land ?
That man is never ever going to take any legal action, that's just bullshit to look important !

fact is, he did this many times before to his customers (read the post of iLag at indiegames, or the threads about him in the anything4free forum) or critics, or at last was threatening them with legal actions. and thats not such a bad idea. if this all will crush, what it is already doing, he will have a nice excuse, that others destroyed his great business idea. even if the police will stop an investigation, the excuse will be there ;)
anyway, tantrix has nothing to fear, because the saving of ips in germany was stated to be illegal by highhest german courts. he will have no chance to find out, who you are. its just his helpless way to react to critics and he is doing it everytime the same way.
just read the posts on gulli, where a guy made a nice summary of jochens actions ;)
http://board.gulli.com/thread/1538397-g-data-einstweilige-verfuegung-gegen-gamerdealsde/3/
posts72, 78 and so on, its all priceless and worth a read, as a tip to german speaking folks :)

and as it seems, some of the mods there has been even working for him. so there seems to be a good contact between them.
but i wouldnt care anyway. your isp has no right to record your ip for a time.

Tantrix: "Aber fr Tantrix wird es teuer wenn wir seien Identitt gefunden haben. Sehr teuer. Da gibt es einen schnen Paragraphen im BGB der ihn schn zur Kasse bitten wird. ^^"
"But it will be really expensive for Tantrix once we know his idendity. Really expensive. There will be a pretty paragraph in the BGB who will call him to checkout quickly. ^^"
I feel my hand on my phone. Not out of fear but out of being really pissed right now.

I would really like to know which paragraph he is talking about. As far as i know, nothing that you've done is illegal in our country. ;)
You provided links to already publicly available sites about previous "actions" of him and you asked some of his so-called business partners if they are his business partners. Nothing of this is forbidden in germany. What would be forbidden is the accusation of someone with things that aren't true, but he would have to prove that and that would be quite difficult for him...
Also, when you read through his arguments for his other "faults" in the various interviews, you should pretty quickly notice that this guy has absolutely no concept of laws or business rules or anything else... It's just childish behavior from a guy who stands with his back to the wall. ;)

Is it just me or does that sound like the plot of a TV show? A modern day snake oil salesman driving around to a new town each week in a beat up old car trying to con the townspeople only to be discovered and run out of town at the end of every episode in a humorous chase sequence

Let's get a pilot written and pitch it to FOX!

Or it could be a Richard Matheson short story. It would end with a brilliant twist. The only I can think of would be that he concluded a pact with the Devil for eternal life, but that the Devil has him scamming people for all eternity in return.
Matheson would do something a million times better with it. Read his short stories, he is a genius.
