Not entering as I won Gray Matter in a previous giveaway you held. Thanks again and +1.
I'm entering for Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition

I'd say the thing that surprises me about the community is how nice and generous everyone is compared to most other communities. There is always giveaways from what I've seen and people can be very helpful.
I'd like to be in for NWN and Zeus+Poseidon please!

My pleasant experience on the forums would have to be quite early on, related to Baldur's Gate. I'd got the disk copies of both games + expansions for a birthday or Christmas present several years ago, but had found that I was unable to play ToB as it claimed it was American only (and I'm in the UK). Amazon wasn't helpful, and knowing I couldn't finish the story, I wasn't able to stay motivated to even get far into BG1, so it was just left on my pile of games CDs.

When I came to GOG (recently, as you can tell from my registration date: I was attracted by Dungeon Keeper), I saw that the games were available for sale, and had their own forum. I found myself wanting to go back and actually play the games. As I don't have much money to spend on games, though, I didn't want to spend about £8 on a game which I already had, albeit in a non-working format. In desperation, I put a question on the forums about it. Within hours, someone (Olnorton, so if you happen to read this Olnorton, thanks again!) had explained the (embarrassingly simple) solution to me. A friend also bought the game from GOG to replace the disk copy he'd lost some time ago, so we're now playing through the games for the first time (and trying to adjust to 2e dnd rules from the 3.5 we're used to using).

The fact that someone took the time to explain it, and...be helpful was what really first gave me the idea of what this community was like. The official and unofficial giveaways (and ludicrously cheap prices and sales) definitely confirmed and reinforced that, but that thread was when I realised what a good community this is :)

As for my reasons for wanting the games:

As you might have realised if you read the above, I play dnd, so NWN would always have been on my 'to play' list for that reason. Oddly, though, I heard about it before 'dungeons' ever became synonymous with 'dragons' in my mind. In fact, it was while I was browsing a website related to my passion then and now: gamebooks (books with a branching structure where you, along with some dice rolling, decides what happens: basically RPGs in book format) that I came across an adaptation of one of the books to a 'module' for a game called 'Neverwinter Nights' which I'd never heard of. I kept coming across the name, but it was only when I found GOG that I found out about it. Now it's on my list of games to play once I clear my backlog, along with Planescape: Torment and one or two others. If only GOG would stop offering such good value sales... :) So yes, NWN has been a game which has been shadowing me for a long time now, but which I've never actually been able to play.

Zeus is a rather shorter reason: the recent city builder sale awakened in me the wish to play one, and so when I chose games to buy with £10 I'd been given for Christmas, I decided to buy one. I narrowed it down to Pharaoh or Zeus, and decided (correctly, I still feel) on Pharaoh, but would like to try Zeus as well.

Well, whether I win or not, thanks for the generous giveaway!

Thank you all for your responses so far. It is really interesting to hear about what kind of events or qualities have left you feeling good within this community.

As I'm starting to realize that it will be quite hard to shift through this when the time comes to pick the winners, I would like to ask you all to put the names of the games in bold if you get a chance ( highlight it an press B on the left when editing your post). Thanks in advance!

And before anyone asks: yes new entries are still welcome ;)
I´d be good with any of the "Mass Effects" since I love space, and when it´s space + sci-fi, it can´t get any better. I heard that it has a good story, and since that´s one of the most important things to me, I think it´ll live to expectations.

As to what I found about this forum, I may repeat myself over what others said, but whatever thread I got into I always see a nice behaviour, not like in some places where they instantly incur into the lowest form of the idiom or agressive behaviour, so this is a friendly place to be.

Reading other people posts I guess you had your past thread closed since it was in the lines of "post a pic" ;P. I was going to put that was "surprising", but actually it is not. I can understand why it was closed though (not because I think that is bad, I mean who doesn´t like that? It comes pre-programmed in our biological bios). They are just doing what anyone would do in their own place, to keep it nice fore everyone since there may be people out there who doesn´t like it, are minors or feel offended by it ...bla-bla, and instead of dealing with the possible outcomes, the easiest and safest way to deal with it is not entering "near" that terrain and I say near since the dividing lines can be pretty different depending on each individual and the best bet is to put in in the lowest one. And since this is a public place the bar must be set to the lowest possible as to not attract undesirable effects (not as in Mass Effects :P).

The thread wasn't closed, but I did asked for it as some people seemed to be offended by it and that was not my intention. I intended for it to be funny/lighthearted and a couple of people took it that route too, but as it had the potential to go badly and some seemed concerned about that I decided to move the giveaway and make a new contest. Btw: the pictures I asked for are probably not the ones you're thinking off ;)

I would like to enter for Zeus and Acropolis, please.

It's difficult to pinpoint any one instance of interaction that stands out, so if I may, I'd rather relate why I enjoy the GOG forums in general. There is just such an eclectic mix of personalities and perspectives. Undoubtedly, the international composition of the members contributes to this. And yet, for it's global membership, the community feels comfortable like a pub. Reeks of sentiment, I suppose. But, at my age, it's nice to read a forum and not leave shaking my head and thinking the world's been completely overrun by coarse dimwits.

Thank you for the giveaway, K. As always, +1 to you.

I'd like either:

Neverwinter Nights Diamond

or

Gray Matter

People here have always been very kind to help me whenever I had questions about various subjects that needed answer. Also, I lost the count of how many times kind strangers gave me new games, a gesture that I haven't imitated nearly enough times yet.
My great experience in this community was not very long ago (as you might be able to tell from my rep). I saw this thing in the forum called `ninja giveaway`. I like ninjas and i also like giveaways so i went on the ridiculously long thread and asked what it was about. Within 5 minutes there were 6 or 7 replies explaining what it was. I like all these friendly and helpful people. :)

Id like to be included for Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition (GOG)

Id like Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition (GOG) because Im not very up to date with my pc graphics and i dont spend
lots of money on a machine that can run games. SO this limits me to basically anything from 2006 and before. And since one of my friends really liked this game and he had a pretty old computer it would work for me. Also who can argue with over 100 hours of gameplay! :P
I have to say that in the relatively short time I've been on here, my impression of people here is nothing short of amazing. You are kind beyond bounds, courteous and helpful. I look forward to engaging with you further as much as time permits. I hope there's no limit on +1s, because I sure am pushing it a lot.

In for one of these:
A New Beginning - Final Cut (GOG)
Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition (GOG)
Police Quest 1+2+3+4 (GOG)
Zeus + Poseidon (Acropolis) (GOG)

I remember NWN bringing my graphics card to its knees at the time.
Zeus + Poseidon (Acropolis) (GOG)
Mass Effect (Gamersgate)

Several of the games in my library I've gotten from other members of this site that include Realms of Arkania and the Witcher 2 (thanks Shane-o!)

This is a really nice place :D
in for:
Gray Matter (Gamersgate)

i think i would like the game because it is by the renowned Jane Jensen, creator of the Gabriel Knight series. It will add a few additional exp points to my Point and Click Skillz levels which im close to another level up. the story of the game is intriguing to me, the temporal shifting and the focus on the mind has some great storyline possibilities (curious to see what route Jane Jensen took).

would love to see this title on GOG (click to vote for Gray Matter on GOG)

tell me about something nice/surprising in a good way that you experienced on this forum while interacting with other forum members.:

over the holidays many members banded up on the daily bundles and provided an assist to get the max % off through gifting single titles out of the full bundles.
i got many assists (with finite and personally tight funding personally) which enabled me to add many sought after titles at a decent rate that would have had to wait a year at minimum to get without the bonus % off and not being able to swing that many full bundles.
being 'newer' to GOG than many GOG OGs this was extremely helpful to me.
+ all the GOG royalty/members (in my eyes) - granting wishes of wishlists, dropping ninja codes, and hooking up sweet giveaways galore.
(Many positive GOG experiences + deals/news tip offs + entertainment since arriving)
GOG are the champions!

thanks for another awesome giveaway, K_1269!

Thanks for the giveaway, K_1269

I would like to enter for Neverwinter Nights, because I adore Bioware's D&D games but when NWN was released I had a cheap PC that wasn't able to play it. Now I have a cheap PC that CAN play it!

As for the nice/surprising thing, it's difficult to pick one because I hate to leave out all the other times people have been good to me here, but the following is one of my favourite GOG memories;

- last November ZYZKryten held a giveaway for a game I really wanted. I didn't win, but afterwards the game landed in my inbox anyway, and I found out the winner (adambiser) and one of the runners-up (Licurg) had only entered to try and win the game for me.

It was totally unexpected and I was (and still am) very touched by the gesture. Even today it gives me a lift when I think about it, because it was such a thoughtful and selfless thing to do for somebody else.
