my hdd gave me a bluescreen and apparently is dying after 17 days of working just fine... -.-
and my question is, if i will keep the games on my account like in steam for redownload? I know it is a stupid question and gog is known for just that (the redownloading thing, not the stupid questions)). but i want to be sure.

Your games are safe in your "My Account" page, to be downloaded again and again. Be aware that any saves you may have are not backed up online though, so if you have any of those you may want to try and recover them.

You can download your GOG games as many times as you want and back them up on multiple drives or discs. :)

You can save your saved games in "the cloud" if the option is enabled in Steam, otherwise, you better back them up.

Just a warning, once you reinstall the Operating System, Steam will think your are in a different computer, so be prepared to whatever struggle you need to do to recover your games again.

Its expensive, but I recommend something like a Drobo. (other cheaper solutions exist). Its a NAS device for home but also acts as a backup that has built in redundancy.

Even though I pay a ridiculous premium for internet access... they still have data caps. Without my own backups, I would have to spread out the re-downloads of my files over multiple months. I'm at 82% of usage this month and still have 1 week left and barely bought any GOG games ;)

Plus it can house your game saves, music, stream music/video, etc.

Well i have 2 external hdds with 1 tb each. but they are
populated by the strangest viruses... so i'm not sure that would be the solution... and a drobo. it is a nice idea actually, but i don't know. they really are expensive. I dont really have to backup much to be honest... i had 17 days of time until my hdd decided to die a slow death. So i was just worried about the possibility of re downloading games and not being charged billions of dollars or worse losing my account.
