COD: Robo
Are they trying to break the world record of games in a series using the cod franchise? This restructuring has certainly killed off all potential creativity in activision. I used to be excited about the games but now there is no point to buying them at launch as a new and potential better one will be released next year. I'll be waiting for COD games to be $5 before I will buy them.

Seriously, how can you actually know that for sure? What if they put out some genuinely great games? Are they instantly bad solely by virtue of having a Call of Duty moniker?
I don't understand people who endlessly decry sequels and franchises without them even being released (or in this case even announced), as if only original IP is ever worth looking at.

Rohan15: There is already one out...SUPER Columbine Massacre RPG.

Damn. I must have missed that one.
Where can I pirate it from?

You'll be waiting for decades if the rampant price fixing on COD games is anything to go by. Not that I'm saying that's a bad thing. :P

Yeah, damn them for making sequels and supporting franchises after the initial release.
Don't forget to boycott Mass Effect and Dragon Age. Both of those are trilogies :p
And damn them all to hell. If I had know we were getting a Fallout 2, I would never have bought 1. And I was so happy with Fallout 2 until Fallout 3 came. And now, I am going to go firebomb Bethesda for letting Obsidian release New Vegas.
Seriously, judge things on the merit of what they are. If you are afraid to play a MP game because it won't be around in ten years, just go play CS 1.6. Because even if it is the last game in the series, something else will come around (or the community will just die).
And if you are afraid to play an SP game because a sequel came out: Really? Has MW2 ruined the fun of riding in a jeep with Steve Blum way back in CoD1?

LOL. Are than any games without Steve Blum in them? Just finished HoMM5: TOE and was watching the credits, and holy crap, there's Steve Blum again.
At least he used different voice this time. ;)

COD: A Dead Horse?
Haha Sledgehammer studios or something is making it. So treyarch doesn't have to do another COD game every year, COD 8 will be available for 2012.
I'm seriously sick of COD games, maybe if they actually were on another engine (other than their same old modded Unreal 2.5 (or is it 3?) one.) it would be tolerable. But it feels like they just put out Total Conversion mods rather than actuall games. (Not that I loved the first three.)
Also COD: Black Ops is the seventh one. COD: MW3 <---Sad thing is that would still sell millions.

So they've finally exhausted World War II eh? Good to know we'll be seeing some cool stuff in Call of Duty.
Horrible to hear Infinity Ward doesn't seem to be making another game though, because hate on IW all you want, they have that touch that is so popular, and think about it: MW2 is the top-selling game of all time. Treyarch, or Sledgehammer, or any other company could never replicate that.

Well in my case it's an extrapolation of the noticeable stagnation in quality of the series. The first CoD was rough but had potential, the second had a notable improvement in the visuals but the game still played almost exactly the same. I never played the third but from what I've been told it was much the same. I borrowed 4 off a mate expecting it to be different with the much larger time between games and a substantially higher budget but it was the same old shit AGAIN. Sure it had the sinking boat and the AC130 gunner sequence but other than that it was the same bland corridor shooter with only one way to go and enemy triggers so obvious the might as well have been a big red button with a giant flashing sign saying "stop enemy spawning today, press the button!". I only played a demo of 5 but it was exactly the same crap and not as interesting as 4 and from watching the first 3 hours of CoD6, I didn't see anything appreciably different
I'm not saying that every game has to be radically different from the others but there needs to be a fine balance between not alienating fans by completely throwing away the core tenents of the series and boring the shit out of people by being overpriced reskins of the exact same crap over and over. At present the CoD's are coming down on the overpriced reskin side.
If we're really lucky having a division dedicated to it will actually allow for different styles of game to be made that take risks, do different things and advance gaming as a whole. That or activision will milk it dry until only dust comes out and then try to sell the dust as powdered milk
