I would support that. I always support a good FPS. Voted in the 'wanted' section.

Also, have a +rep and welcome to the GOG community :-D

The Battlefield series of games is still sold at retail in the EA Classics range. BF 1942 comes with the two expansions, BF Vietnam is a standalone since it had no expansions (that I'm aware of at least). BF 2 and BF 2142 have standalone releases, and versions with their expansion/dlc extras.

Not sure about their digital presence, but since they're EA games they might be available on Origin. I'd love to see the whole series available here as well even though I've got them all, except of course for Battlefield 3.

not sure about old BF games. they're classics alright, but they're also multiplayer only. are they still being played by a sufficient number of players on a regular basis? i doubt it.

the BF games are not just multiplayer only, you can play with bots in all the old battlefield pc version games. but there small battles with 16 vs 16 battles. how ever you can bump up the number of bots by opening up the battlefield floder and click on the mod floder look for the ai floder, and you should see a note pad file that looks something like this aidefalt. open that up and you can add more bots for a bigger battle, and you can up the skill level as well, and yes thir is very much so alot of players on the old bf games, such as bf 1942...bf 2142. and bf 2.

Umm, I don't think you have to go through all of that. BF1942, at least, lets you choose more bots than that within the game menu interface, and also lets you choose the team balance (more players on one team). I used to play regularly with 40 and 48 bots, with my team at 1/2 to 2/3 strength.

I just realized that maybe you're talking about online play with bots to fill out the roster. In that case, maybe it is limited to 16v16. For single-player, you can have more bots.

Don't leave out us old-fart 1980s OG PC gamers! ; )
As far as I know only Battlefield 2 and onwards limit you to the small maps when playing against bots.
Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam have the same size maps regardless of the number of players anyway.

for BF 1942 ITS 24 VS 24. BUT BF 2 IS ONLY 16 VS 16. but you can bump it up to 32 vs 32 by going into the bf files, and online you get some 64 player maps, but you only get that without bots however you can move the 64 player maps into the singel player folder with the 24 vs 24 or 16 vs 16 singel player maps :) so im not saying your wrong becasue your not :) im saying the bf games take and give some. you are right about bf 1942 48 players, but you can bump it up to 64 players or more depending on your computers ram, you can have 100 vs 100 if you wish, but you have to have alot of ram to do that. :)
Either way, fun games but as pointed out, is anyone still playing online the early BF titles? Last year I had a tough time finding even a single decently-populated BF1942 server, including the mods.

no thats not true at all :). you can move the 64 player maps over to the small singel maps, to do this you must open up the BF folder go to mods, fiend levels, and look for the singel player maps and multiplay maps, copy and past the multiplay maps into the singel player maps. and boom, you got a big 64 player map in a singelplay gameplay with bots, and if your still not happy with how big the maps are, bf comes with easy to use map maker, you can make your maps very big. like arma 2 like big :) i hope thats helps :)

That's a very American way of looking at things. We also have a lot of people here who started gaming in the 80s on such machines as the ZX81, ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro, Amstrad, C64, Atari ST, Amiga, etc. The American market may have been completely dominated by consoles, but in Europe we had a wider selection, and real computers were far more widespread than consoles.
