StingingVelvet: Calm down man, you posted while I was writing that. I'm not devastated either, I know what kind of games these are and love their little pixely hearts, I just want the image to be smaller. Anyway, I got it in windowed mode now, thanks for your advice. I'm used to these games launching the config after you install.

Played for about an hour... already stuck! Hahaha... I like that though. The art and music is very good, though the music is very sparse so far. The voice acting is terrible so I turned it off.
I was calm. <.< >.>

Yeah, the config thing was a little hidden... my solution for the dodgy voice acting was to turn it right down in the mix. This way I don't feel like I'm missing out on it, but I'm not distracted by it.
I might have missed this in the initial instructions, but is there a way to bring up the inventory without having to find an object to right click on?
They've moved back the CD pre-order date back to the 27th. I have been looking forward to this game for quite some time, although is the odd six quid difference worth it for buying the CD with the extras?
Looks like another must have title.

It is IMO. While 6 quid approximates to about SGD12, I find that breaking down the costs helps me better appreciate the price increment. Let's say the packaging, CD and burning process amounts to approximately $4. That leaves $8, which is a fair price for shipping. On top of that, you get a bonus CD with the MP3 - and I think the haunting soundtrack is absolutely worth listening to outside of the game. It's good, crisp music for a bleak, dystopian setting.

Anyhow, I've spent about 20 minutes and so far I'm having a good time. It's very old school, and while I would have liked a few changes to the interface, overall the production value outweighs what the game's selling for, as far as I can tell. The voice acting is wavering between passable and mediocre though. I like the Director's voice, but the rest of the characters aren't that great. Then again, it's mainly developed by one guy - and from what I hear, a student too.

If you like BASS, you'll definitely feel right at home with Gemini Rue. There's also the addition of shooting mechanics, which are also pretty cool, and while the shooting parts require some twitch-based skills on the player's end, they really fit in quite nicely. They're definitely far less annoying than QTEs, and give more control to the player.

Bravo to the developer! I'll post more later as I continue to play on.

Can't say until it arrives but I imagine it will literally just be a CD in a box. It's mainly meant for idiots like me who want a box at all cost!
A trio of reviews, from my three go-to places for adventure games. Don't know if there are any spoilers in there, but there tend to be:

Adventure Gamers calls Gemini Rue "the best Wadjet Eye title to date", with a generous 4 stars. Adventure Gamers is very strict about their ratings, and I think fewer than 10 of their review titles have ever gotten 5 stars, most of which are classics, so 4 stars often means the title is highly recommended by them.

Adventure Classic Gaming thinks Gemini Rue has delivered the feeling invoked by past-gen adventure games quite "admirably". A whopping 5 stars for this one.

Just Adventure doesn't like it though, giving it a scathing C-. I haven't read the review for this one, and given how JA usually have spoilers in their review, I'm probably not going to.

Not a very well-written review really, pretty lame. I read "the bad" section twice and still am not really sure what all he's bitching about.
While I typically do read a lot of JA reviews, I tend to disagree with them a lot. I just think their reviews angst about a lot of unimportant stuff.

I didn't get a chance to try GR last night. I almost completely forgot about the 24 hour active link thing on the download link so I set it to download on my laptop while I slept. I just hope the download didn't die or my laptop battery give out before it was complete. I'll check today though and hopefully get some time with the game soon.

Any spoilers? I'm tempted to read it myself.

Anyhow, I'm currently into Day 3 of Delta Six's stay in Colony 7. Without giving away any spoilers, my opinion on GR is that it's, in a nutshell, one of the best indie adventure games I've played (I really need to start on Kaptain Brawe too!). Considering it is made by one person alone, I'm very impressed by the production values of this game.

I actually didn't like the voice acting, but it grew on me. It's probably not going to win any awards though, but it's actually pretty good, the more I play it. I only have one issue with the game, and that is the interface - or specifically, the ability to bring up the inventory, but eh other than that, no other complaint. The story (thus far) is compelling, and the puzzles do require some thinking, but are still manageable - I daresay Joshua Nuernberger has struck a perfect balance between difficulty and pacing; so far all the puzzles are perfectly logical in the game's context. The mood and setting are captured so well, and even the gunfights don't feel out of place.

Long story short: a damn good purchase.

It's safe to read.

I agree the game is very good. It's not too challenging although I keep getting stuck. I eventually figure things out though... I have no idea what to do in the facility with Delta 6 though, even on day one lol. I need a tool and can't find anything.

Anyway, great game. Wish the music played more, that's about my only complaint.
Soundtrack is available now :)

Have you spoken to Giselle?
