Time to look up "oniric"!

Psychonauts, an immensely original and funny 3D action-adventure platformer with surreal story and oniric environments, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 24 hours.

In this world created by Tim Schafer and his Double Fine team, there is a very special summer camp for kids with psychic special powers. Just as in any other well-organized summer camp, the children participate in various activities to earn merit badges. But instead of kayaking, building stick huts, lighting fire with two pieces of wood, they try to master levitation, hypnosis, and pyrokinesis. But just as every good summer camp story, this one also sees a sudden twist, when a mysterious evildoer abducts one psychic kid after another into the twisted realms of nightmares. It's up to Raz, a young but extraordinarily gifted cadet, to save the day, and it's up to you to enjoy every single bit of this oniric experience!

Psychonauts combines a well executed 3D platformer mechanics, surreall design, fantastic plot, sharp humor, and many innovative ideas into one game that you won't soon forget. This title received high praise from gamers, critics, and game designers alike, and remains a landmark that stands out from a somewhat crowded genre. If you value originality and excellence in design, at $3.99 Psychonauts is an offer you simply should not refuse.

You're up for an unforgettable oniric trip in Psychonauts, for only $3.99 on GOG.com. The promo lasts until Tuesday, May 27, at 9:59AM GMT.

GreatEmerald: Yea, I really wouldn't trust Wiktionary over dictionary.reference.com (which is a dictionary aggregator, no less).

Besides, everyone worth their while knows the word Oneiric. Oneiric Ocelot, man!
Hah, Oneiric Ocelot was exactly what came to mind. That, and I believe Dream is referred to as "Oneiros" at some point in the Sandman comics.

LOL

BlackBox7: and I believe Dream is referred to as "Oneiros" at some point in the Sandman comics.
That's because Oniric comes from the greek Oneiros (plural Oneiroi).

Both oneiric and oniric are fine, though I suspect that some might consider the former archaic as it is closer to the original greek.

Compare to French: Onirique

I wouldn't have mentioned it if I thought otherwise. :)
I knew I shouldn't be reading this thread. I already have the game in my backlog so I can't "discover" I should buy it. And now all these recommendations are making me feel conflicted about whether or not it should be next to play.
Okay, you twisted my arm GOG! :D
Remember, every time somebody buys Psychonauts, an angel in heaven gets his wings! I already did my part and gave an angel its wings today! How about you?

(Conversely, every time someone buys Blinx, a demon in hell gets its horns!)

Xaromir: Great game, shitty company. Download it, send GOG a dollar and a steaming pile of shit to Doublefine.
I rather enjoy their documentaries I have to say.
Eh, what's wrong with Double Fine? They make good, original games and they have Tim Schafer. They aren't scumbags like EA or Activision. Sounds fine to me. Is this just based on personal preference, e.g. you just don't like their games?

amok: Is there actually anyone out there who do not yet own this game? What is wrong with you?
Bought the boxed copy at launch, have the GOG copy, have the Humble copy, probably another copy somewhere out in the unknown. So around 4 copies.

Plants need water poured on them, because they have no hands to hold glasses of water.

Out of topic: does anybody knows what´s going on with Neverwinter Nights 2? Ever since few weeks ago it´s amongst the bestellers and I don´t understand why. Is it because of some mode being released?

Or is it simply mistake in bestsellers algorithm?

Well, considering we added a bunch of languages to it and the first game, perhaps tons of people who prefer a non-English copy of the game are buying it now? :D

That and it has tons of mods already :)

edit: also the series discount if you have the first game AND having the Mysteries of Westgate DRM free also helps, I think :D

As with others I'd recommend this as a must have.

True its been overhyped as an amazing game, which it is but mainly I think its due to Psychonauts being such a well written product compared to other exploration/adventure games.
People play this, enjoy it greatly and then try to find something comparable, it is a unique offering until Tim and team get around to making a sequel

But make up your own mind, it has a huge fanbase for a reason and it is a wild ride to play through
