Quantum entanglement shooty action engage!

Fractured Soul, a classics-inspired action platformer challenging you to play simultaneously across two realities for an enthralling arcade experience, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for 24 hours!

We all exist in a universe that we understand only to a small extent. Philosophers, scholars, and finally scientist devote their lives to uncovering the inner workings of reality, but what we know is just a small fraction of the big picture, and what we understand is just a small portion of what we know. Physicists theorize the existence of different reality planes, parallel to our own. They also manage to catch a glimpse sometimes of incredible quantum mechanics that govern the way the universe works. In theory the same bit of matter cannot occupy two places at the same time, right? But may it shift across dimensions instantly? What about energy? What about consciousness? Can realities overlap one another? In this game--yes, they can. In our world? We're yet to find out.

Fractured Soul puts you in control of the entity--one soul stretched across two dimensions, each of them quite similar, but not the same. Double the information input, double the effort to process it, double the fun from overcoming the challenges. Your character is able to shift between two worlds in an instant, but it's up to you to take in what's happening in both of them at any given time, to make sure your use of that ability leads to optimal results. Hardcore bonus challenge levels are unlocked through 5 star performances in the main game. You can also take on the challenge of Fractured Soul with a friend, in local co-op mode. The game comes bundled with a full soundtrack, both in MP3 and FLAC format.

Give your brain an excercise in multi-tasking with the devious arcade mindgame that is Fractured Soul, for only $3.99 on GOG.com. The 60% off Gem Promo discount offer lasts until Thursday, May 22, at 9:59AM GMT.
So Classic and Indie Gem Promos have been replaced by "Gem Promos". Monday had Runaway 3 as part which is 3 years old. So classics will become more and more a weekend-only thing?

I'll hazard the guess that most of the old games already being sold for peanuts, i.e. 5.99$, discounts are less needed to achieve satisfactory sales. That or (and ?) most of us old farts coming for them tend to buy them at full price anyway.

To be fair: Monday's promo also included Runaway: A Road Adventure which is 11 years old and can very well considered a classic. Do you really complain that the whole series got a discount and not just one single game?

I was going to post the same thing.

No, but the banners only read "Gem Promo" now. With the 11 year old game, they could have called the monday one "Classic Gem Promo" - and today's "Indie Gem Promo". This seems to be a change in their promo strategy.

That could avoid all the "what's a classic" / "what's old" rants. Haven't noticed any "what's an indie" rant yet, but it's probably only a matter of time.
I wouldn't consider Runaway a "classic" by any stretch, for instance, and only barely "old".

Heard the screen splitting of this is not done well when ported to the PC.

So does it support dual screen mode for 2 monitor? Or even if I extend the display on 2 monitor I still see very less things up / down that lead to a cheap death?

It has already happened.
It was about Double Fine.

It's an acquired taste, guess.
Runaway definetely is a classic, at least many people consider it that way. It may not be the best game ever, but it is one of the most notable ones of its own era.

It is still the best game Pendulo Studios has released, and started a series of three games, possibly more to come some day. If nothing else, it was a major release during that period when almost all classic adventure games/series/studios/designers had retired or went on hiatus, but still before the adventure game revival that happened after Double Fine Kickstarter.

Same concern here about the game. The leading review here seems to indicate the one-screen compromise has issues. And I'm somewhat put off by the needlessly large decorative border between the two. Seems like that could have been handled better.
Wow, great timing, I just added the game to my wishlist a week or two ago. Instabuy, thank you very much.

I agree, I remember thinking at the time, that it stood alone. Considering in the Australian Market there were pretty much no other adventure games at the time.
Another platformer, will pass.

Willl pass from left to right is how it generally works. With maybe a little up and down along the way.

I'm generally terrible with plat formers, yet my inner games collecting greed has me still a little interested.

And yet despite that I backed https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/project-giana/dieselstormers which I don't think is going to make it, less than 60 hours to go and they still need $10K+ to get through.

I've beaten ~15 levels already and I didn't have any problems with it. Keep in mind that I've never ever held a 3DS in my hands so I have no idea what should I expect. I can imagine that for a person who has a 3DS version this port may seem bad. As for me - I have a blast playing it. Sure, I die a lot but not because of a poor visibility - every time I know it was my and only my fault ;) My only complain is that "escape" button doesn't stop pause the game - you have to press "enter" for that. It's kinda annoying because in (almost) every game you open the menu with esc. The default controls are also a bit weird (once again - I've never bought a controller and I like playing with kb+m combo) but you can configure them so that's not a problem (and yes, you can assign escape button to work properly too)

See above and in case of any questions feel free to ask :)
