First off and foremost, Thumbmonkey appears to be a hard copy retailer and download material is afterthought to keep up with the times.

They've used Game Streamer for their client and digi portion of their site - a sort of one-size-fits-all software that a lot of newcomers to digi are using.

Most importantly, I can that I got my game in one piece and it wasn't too much of a headache to do so.

I will say though that you have two options to download, you can do so via browser or client.
Avoid the client at all costs, it's a mess.

I used IE8 teamed with Free Download Manager to pull Gods VS Humans (under 50mb file) the only oddity I experienced was A. I had to attempt download twice because the first download attempt pulled down some useless login file and not the game. B. The download speed never really exceeded 90 kbps per second but seeing as Thumbmonkey is mostly a retailer and not a dedicated digi distrib slow servers were to be expected.

The best news is that DRM is in no way tied to Thumbmonkey or their client and you only get slapped with the publisher's DRM. You don't have to phone home to Monkey in order to install.

Gods pulled down as one neat and tidy setup executable that doubled as the demo. Running the executable I had the option to trial the demo for a limited time or enter a serial to unlock the full game.

Thumbmonkey provides the serial under your account section.

So in short, I feel the dealer is trustworthy and I would purchase from them again but their optional client is a big waste of time.
Looking through their catalog they have a decent amount of stuff that just cannot be found normally as well. Never seen Steam Slug before in my life. Even if those "exclusive" games are all horrible wrecks, I'll never know if I don't check them out. And there's only one place to do that to my knowledge.
Looking at their site via a few proxies, it appears they have regional restrictions and force pricing display in local currencies. Not going to make any purchases though so I couldn't tell you if the price charged is in local currency or not. I don't see myself using them to be honest.
Yup, they auto-detected my region and displayed and charged nzd prices.
Most of the catalogue is in US dollars for me.

The rest, for some reason, is in kroner.

EDIT: Ooh, I can get it to display in Swiss francs, too. This is fun.

So they actually charged you in NZD and not USD? If that's the case I definitely won't be using them. When sites do that, they tend to raise the JPY price so we actually pay far more than the USD price.

Welcome to the club :(
Same thing with Euro over here (just a little example: Rift is 50€ if you pay in Euro on Steam and 35€ if you pay in GBP)

It worked out for me. I payed $13 NZD for Gods and $10 USD converts to $13 NZD. Same with Impulse. It makes it a bit more convenient because I don't have to do the currency conversion through Google before hand to see how much I'm spending.

I mainly use Steam and there is no realistic conversion, but the individual developer has to set region specific prices, so most just save the effort and use the same price for most countries without calculating a conversion rate. I'd love to be given the option to pay in currency X, or, even better, to see the price in Euro, but with the actual, recent conversion rate applied, which wouldn't be much of an effort for Steam :(

Yeah, walked in and saw HAWX2 for €49.99. Walked straight back out again as GetGames have it for £14.99.

HAWX2 was 0.00 for me (well, no price is displayed until you add it to a cart, then it's 0.00). A clear indication of a regional restriction. Meh, if I wanted HAWX2, I'd get it from either GG or Steam on sale (at least 75% off).
